The Allmusic review by Michael G. Nastos states, "In many ways this is a remarkable date, a well-paced program with all the pieces (save "For All We Know") timed at around ten minutes, proof positive that Tyner's game is still very much on, and hovering at a very high level". [3]

Joseph Salvatore Lovano is an American jazz saxophonist, alto clarinetist, flautist, and drummer. He has earned a Grammy Award and several mentions on Down Beat magazine's critics' and readers' polls. He is married to jazz singer Judi Silvano with whom he records and performs. Lovano was a longtime member of a trio led by drummer Paul Motian.
Crescent is a 1964 studio album by jazz musician John Coltrane, released by Impulse! as A-66. Alongside Coltrane on tenor saxophone, the album features McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones (drums) playing original Coltrane compositions.
The Real McCoy is the seventh album by jazz pianist McCoy Tyner and his first released on the Blue Note label. It was recorded on April 21, 1967 following Tyner's departure from the John Coltrane Quartet and features performances by Tyner with tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Elvin Jones. Producer Alfred Lion recalls the recording session as a "pure jazz session. There is absolutely no concession to commercialism, and there's a deep, passionate love for the music embedded in each of the selections".
Inner Urge is an album by jazz saxophonist Joe Henderson released in 1966, the fourth recorded as a leader for Blue Note Records. It was recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on November 30, 1964. It features Henderson playing tenor sax, along with pianist McCoy Tyner and drummer Elvin Jones. The album's bass player, Bob Cranshaw, was a regular member of Sonny Rollins' band at the time of the recording, and was also a frequent session musician for record labels including Blue Note, Prestige and Atlantic.
Delightfulee is an album by jazz trumpeter Lee Morgan released on the Blue Note label in 1967. Focal Point is a 1976 album by jazz pianist McCoy Tyner, his tenth to be released on the Milestone label. It was recorded during four days in August 1976 and features a septet fronted by three reed players who were in part multiplied through overdubs. On one track Tyner is heard picking a dulcimer backed by tablas, evoking the sound of an Indian sitar. "Parody" is a duo with Eric Gravatt on drums. The album was digitally remastered at Fantasy Studios in 1999 and re-released on Original Jazz Classics.
Horizon is a 1979 album by jazz pianist McCoy Tyner released on the Milestone label. It was recorded in April 1979 and features performances by Tyner with alto saxophonist Joe Ford, tenor saxophonist George Adams, violinist John Blake, bassist Charles Fambrough, drummer Al Foster and percussionist Guilherme Franco.
Double Trios is a 1986 album by jazz pianist McCoy Tyner released on the Denon label. It features performances by Tyner supported by bassist Avery Sharpe and drummer Louis Hayes or bass guitarist Marcus Miller and drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts along with percussionist Steve Thornton. The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states "it is particularly interesting to hear the pianist's reworkings of "Lil' Darlin'," "Satin Doll", "Lover Man" and Thelonious Monk's "Rhythm-A-Ning," transforming them into modal masterpieces".
Uptown/Downtown is a 1988 live album by McCoy Tyner released on the Milestone label, his first for the label since 13th House (1980). It was recorded in November 1988 and features performances by Tyner's Big Band, which included tenor saxophonists Junior Cook and Ricky Ford, trumpeter Kamau Adilifu and trombonist Steve Turre, recorded at the Blue Note jazz club in New York City. The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states that "the results are quite memorable and frequently exciting. Recommended".
Prelude and Sonata is an album by McCoy Tyner released on Key'stone and Milestone label in 1995. It was recorded in November 1994 and features performances of classical and contemporary music by Tyner with alto saxophonist Antonio Hart, tenor saxophonist Joshua Redman, bassist Christian McBride and drummer Marvin "Smitty" Smith. The AllMusic review by Ken Dryden states that "This release is definitely off the beaten path for McCoy Tyner, but it is well worth acquiring".
Illuminations is a piano album by McCoy Tyner released on the Telarc label in 2004. It was recorded in November 2003 and features performance by Tyner with alto saxophonist Gary Bartz, trumpeter Terence Blanchard, bassist Christian McBride, and drummer Lewis Nash.
Solo: Live from San Francisco is a live album by McCoy Tyner released in 2009 on his label, McCoy Tyner Music, a subsidiary of Half Note Records. The album was recorded at the Herbst Theatre as part of the San Francisco Jazz Festival's Spring Series in May 2007 and features a solo performance by Tyner.
