A barrister is a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions. Barristers mostly specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. Their tasks include arguing cases in courts and tribunals,drafting legal pleadings,researching the law and giving legal opinions.
In most common law jurisdictions,the attorney general or attorney-general is the main legal advisor to the government. In some jurisdictions,attorneys general also have executive responsibility for law enforcement,prosecutions or even responsibility for legal affairs generally. In practice,the extent to which the attorney general personally provides legal advice to the government varies between jurisdictions,and even between individual office-holders within the same jurisdiction,often depending on the level and nature of the office-holder's prior legal experience.
An "advocate" is a professional in the field of law. Different countries and legal systems use the term with somewhat differing meanings. The broad equivalent in many English law–based jurisdictions could be a barrister or a solicitor. However,in Scottish,Manx,South African,Italian,French,Spanish,Portuguese,Scandinavian,Polish,Israeli,South Asian and South American jurisdictions,"advocate" indicates a lawyer of superior classification.
In the United Kingdom and some Commonwealth realms,a King's Counsel is a senior lawyer appointed by the monarch of the country as a "Counsel learned in the law". When the reigning monarch is a woman,the title is called Queen's Counsel (QC).
The Attorney General for India is the chief legal advisor of the Government of India. The attorney general is appointed by the President of India at the instance of the Union Cabinet under Article 76(1) of the Constitution and hold office during the pleasure of the President. The Attorney General must meet the qualifications necessary for an appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court. Therefore,the Attorney General should have served as a judge in a high court for a minimum of five years,or as an advocate in a high court for at least ten years. Alternatively,the President may consider an individual as eligible for the role if they are deemed an eminent jurist.
A President's Counsel is an eminent lawyer who is appointed by the President of Sri Lanka as an individual "learned in the law". The term is an honorific that replaced the Queen's Counsel (QC),which Sri Lanka ceased appointing when it became a republic in 1972. It is equivalent to the appointment of a King's Counsel in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms,and that of Senior Counsel in Commonwealth republics,bearing the same privileges,such as sitting within the Bar of court.
Steven Chong Horng Siong is a Singaporean judge who has been serving as a judge of the Court of Appeal of Singapore since 2017. He had previously served as the seventh attorney-general of Singapore between 2012 and 2014,and a judge of the High Court of Singapore between 2010 and 2012,and again between 2014 and 2017.
Kottayan Katankot Venugopal is an Indian constitutional lawyer and a senior advocate in the Supreme Court of India. He was enrolled as an advocate on January 27,1954. On 1 July 2017,he was appointed as the Attorney General of India and retired on 30 September 2022. He is Patron of SAARCLAW and earlier has been its President. He is founder of M K Nambyar SAARCLAW Centre For Advanced Legal Studies at the NALSAR University of Law.

In 2019 the Central Government appointed him to lead the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. However later,Mahant Nritya Gopal Das was appointed to lead the trust. The trust oversees the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Pattabhi Sundar Raman is an Indian Senior Advocate and incumbent Advocate-General of Tamil Nadu. He is the younger son of former Advocate-General and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam politician V. P. Raman.
Puspanathan Wilson is a Senior Advocate in India,who served as the Additional Solicitor General of India between August 2012 and May 2014,and the Additional Advocate General of the State of Tamil Nadu between August 2008 and May 2011.
Sidharth Luthra is a senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India. In July 2012,Sidharth Luthra was appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of India at the Supreme Court and represented the union and various state governments in matters relating to fundamental rights,electoral reforms,criminal law and policy issues. Sunderlal Trikamlal Desai was the 1st Chief Justice of Gujarat,serving from 1 May 1960 until his retirement on 25 January 1961. He later practiced as senior counsel in the Supreme Court of India till 1988. In 1968,he was appointed Treasurer for the Indian Commission of Jurists,a member of the International Commission of Jurists where he was instrumental in submitting the report on Right to Freedom of Movement before the ICJ.

M.N.Krishnamani was a senior counsel practicing at the Supreme Court of India and a former president of Supreme Court Bar Association of India.
Sankararaman murder case was a case on the staged murder of Sankararaman,the manager of Varadharaja Perumal Temple in Kanchipuram,a town in state of Tamil Nadu. He was murdered in the premises of the temple on 3 September 2004. The blame was hoisted on the Shankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal and Shri Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal.
Lily Isabel Thomas was an Indian lawyer who initiated improvement and change to existing laws by filing petitions in India's apex court,the Supreme Court of India and regional courts. Her petitions resulted in changes to laws to prevent convicted politicians getting elected,the addition of a new marriage law and protections for parliamentarians. She was hailed most notably for petitioning to amend the Representation of the People Act,1951.
Gopal Sankaranarayanan is an Indian lawyer practicing at the Supreme Court of India. He was designated as a senior advocate by the Supreme Court of India in March 2019. He is known for his specialization in Constitutional law. He served as the secretary of the Lodha Committee,appointed by the Supreme Court of India in 2015 to bring about reforms in cricket administration in India. He has provided assistance to the Supreme Court as an Amicus curiae in numerous cases. In April 2022,the Supreme Court appointed him as Amicus curiae to assist in the finalization of the Constitution of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
