RMAF Kuching (Malay : TUDM Kuching) is an air force base operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (Malay : Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia). It is located in Kuching, Sarawak in East Malaysia and colocated with the Kuching International Airport. [2]

History

RMAF Kuching was established in 1964 by the Royal Air Force during the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation to strengthen defense in Sarawak. RMAF formed a small detachment to assist RAF with the stationed of 20 personnel with one Twin Pioneer and four Aérospatiale Alouette III in August 1966. In 1967 RMAF Kuching was officially inaugurated after the RAF handed over the base to the RMAF following the withdrawal of the RAF elements in RMAF Kuching. Since then, RMAF Kuching have seen the significant development by the arrival of new aircraft such as DHC-4 Caribou and Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King and also the formation of new squadron. [3] [4]

Malaysian Army Aviation

PASKAU

The Pasukan Khas TUDM – it is better known as PASKAU – is the special operations force of the Royal Malaysian Air Force. Its main functions are to carry out high-value target protection, ground forward air controller, combat search and rescue and rescuing downed aircrew assignments. PASKAU is also tasked as the principal anti-hijack response force for military and civil aircraft in Malaysia. This task was taken over from Grup Gerak Khas. All PASKAU members are airborne and commando-trained and can be deployed behind enemy lines via air, land and sea to assist in target designation for the Malaysian Armed Forces and RMAF missions. The PASKAU Headquarters is known as RMAF Regiment.

RMAF Gong Kedak Air Base

RMAF Gong Kedak is an air force base operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force. It is located 3.7 nautical miles from Jerteh in Gong Kedak, a town in between the state of Kelantan and Terengganu in Peninsular Malaysia.

The Royal Malaysia Police Air Operation Force is a special unit of Royal Malaysia Police (RMP). They look after national security by surveillance and patrol from the air and help other national security agencies.

The Elite Forces include both a specially trained unit and a small percentage of personnel from a specific Malaysian military branch, law enforcement or government agency. In Malaysia, the term 'Elite Forces' is widely used by uniformed services for special forces, special operations forces and specially trained units. Regular personnel must undertake specialized training to be able to join the units of the 'Elite Forces'. These 'Elite Forces' are denoted by different beret colours, shoulder tabs, unit patches, skill badges and uniforms.
