S. V. Rajendra Singh Babu (born 22 October 1952) is an Indian filmmaker and occasional actor who works primarily in Kannada cinema. He was born and brought up in Mysore. His father Shankar Singh produced many films under the banner Mahatma Pictures (Mysore). Babu has written directed movies of different genres in Kannada and in Hindi that include love stories, war, suspense thrillers and comedy movies. Many of his films have been adapted from novels or short stories. [1] Babu has won numerous awards for his films. His sister is producer and actress Vijayalakshmi Singh, and brother-in-law, actor Jai Jagadish.
Rajendra Singh Babu born in Mysore in a Rajput family. [2] His father, the late Shankar Singh, was a producer and director of Kannada films. His mother, Prathima Devi, was an actress in Kannada cinema. In an interview, Babu mentioned that his father wanted him to become a doctor, but his own passion for the camera propelled him to the film industry. Hailing from a family of movie makers, Babu was fascinated with films such as The Great Escape, Guns of Navarone and The Bridge on the River Kwai. He believes that cinema should go near the audience. Rajendra Singh Babu wrote the book Nenanpina Muthina Hara in memory of the Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan. The book is a tribute to Vishnuvardhan, where Babu shares his numerous experiences with Vishnuvardhan, and describes Babu's drive to work on meaningful cinema.[ citation needed ]

Sowmya Sathyanarayana, better known by her stage name Soundarya, was an Indian actress known for her works primarily in Telugu cinema in addition to Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam films. He was called The Phoenix of Indian Cinema. In 2008, a poll conducted by CNN-IBN listed Vishnuvardhan as the most popular star in the Kannada film industry.

Muttina Haara is a 1990 Indian Kannada-language war-drama film directed by Rajendra Singh Babu. It stars Vishnuvardhan and Suhasini Maniratnam in the lead roles. K. S. Ashwath, Kavya and Ramkumar feature in supporting roles. The film speaks of the toll of warfare on a soldier's family. A portion of the core plot of the film is partially based on Ernest Hemingway's 1929 novel, A Farewell to Arms.

Ramkumar is an Indian actor and film producer known for his work in Kannada cinema. He made his acting debut in Peraala's 1990 action film Aavesha. The same year, he played a brief role in Rajendra Singh Babu's war film Muthina Haara (1990). He turned producer for the film Pandavaru (2006), in which he acted as well. With his good looks, he was considered one of the "Chocolate heroes" of the 1990s and his acting skills were well appreciated. As of 2013, Ram kumar has acted in over 40 Kannada feature films.
Nagarahole is a 1977 Indian Kannada-language children's film written by H. V. Subba Rao, with screenplay and direction by S. V. Rajendra Singh Babu, starring Vishnuvardhan, Bharathi and Ambareesh. The film was dubbed in Malayalam as Kaadu Njangalude Veedu and in Hindi as Bahadur Bachhe. Director Babu had revealed that the base plotline was inspired by the books of Enid Blyton. He had also revealed that the movie was dubbed in 11 languages including Russian, Japanese & French.

D. Shankar Singh was an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, exhibitor and a freedom fighter during the British rule in India. Singh, along with B. Vittalacharya co-found the "Mahatma Pictures", a production venture in 1946, that has produced over a hundred Kannada films. The very first film to release under this banner was Krishnaleela in 1947. His first directorial project was Jaganmohini in 1951. The film is recorded in history as one of the first Kannada films to have screened for over 100 days in cinema halls.
Vijayalakshmi Singh is an Indian actress, director, costume designer and producer in Kannada. She has acted in more than 50 Kannada films and is actively involved in television projects.
