RedSka was an Italian ska-punk band formed in 2001 in Romagna, Italy.

Biography

In 2004 they released their first official album Mi son sbagliato nel confondermi ("I was mistaken while confusing myself") (Sana Records / Audioglobe), a blend of ska-punk with strong influences of Californian ska, mixed with reggae, raggamuffin, swing, blues, hardcore and rocksteady sounds. There were guest appearances from The Hormonauts and Enri.

In 2007 the album has got re-released in an updated version, including a few live performances and video-clip with One Step Records, independent label, founded by the band's singer. By support of their audience, independent radio and other underground Italian bands, allowed the album to be quite successful in Europe. After this release the band has an increasingly busy tour schedule all around Italy and the first experiences in Continental Europe.

In 2008 the RedSka issued their second album, Le mie prigioni ("My prisons") on One Step Records / Maninalto! / Venus; and One Step Records / Mad Butcher Records in Germany), a rougher and more aggressive work both in sound and lyrics. The album housed collaborations with Banda Bassotti, Matrioska, Los Fastidios, and The Good Fellas. The lyrics, save for a few songs are centered mainly on politics, religion, work and against wars and racial discrimination stressing more firmly the band's social commitment.

The band embarked on a long tour, with many gigs in Croatia, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France and Czech Republic aside the usual Italian venues. [1]

In 2011 year of the decennary of their history, RedSka return to the studio to work on the third official album, titled "La Rivolta". During the making of new album, two more records are released: "MSSNC", new edition of the first album for the German Mad Butcher Records, and the split-album with The Offenders "Rude League" (Mad Butcher Records/ Kob Records/ RedStar73 Records. The latter is released in Europe and is followed by a tour in Germany at the end of 2011 ("Rude League Tour 2011"). After the publication on web of two singles (the title-track "La Rivolta" and "Hooligan Rudeboys"), in 2012 the band presents the new awaited album "La Rivolta". "La Rivolta" is an album in which RedSka express perfectly all their own sonorous and communicative potentialities. A powerful and perfect groove of punk, ska, reggae, raggamuffin attacks listener and he is carried into an album enriched by many collaborations (The Offenders, No Relax, Arpioni, Rude HI-FI).

The release of album, published between January and February in Europe by One Step Records-Venus/ Mad Butcher Records/ RedStar73 Records, is followed by a thick tour around the European continent.

Ska is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. John Baine, better known by his stage name Attila the Stockbroker, is a punk poet, multi instrumentalist musician and songwriter. He performs solo and as the leader of the band Barnstormer 1649, who combine early music and punk. He has performed over 3,300 concerts, published eight books of poems and an autobiography, and released over forty recordings.

Big D and the Kids Table

Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows.

Mad Caddies

The Mad Caddies are a ska punk band from Solvang, California, United States. The band formed in 1995 and has released seven full-length albums, one live album, and two EPs. To date, Mad Caddies have sold over 500,000 albums worldwide.

Vic Ruggiero

Victor "Vic" Ruggiero, is a musician, songwriter and producer from New York City who has played in reggae, blues, ska and rocksteady bands since the early 1990s, including The Slackers, Stubborn All-Stars, SKAndalous All Stars, Crazy Baldhead and The Silencers. He has also performed with punk rock band Rancid, both live and in the studio. He has released four solo acoustic albums and continues to tour and record worldwide. Ruggiero is known primarily as a singer and organist, although he also plays piano, bass, banjo, cigar box guitar, guitar, harmonica and percussion.

Ruder Than You is an American ska band that was founded in 1989 at Penn State University and, in 1991, the group relocated to Philadelphia. While ska and reggae stylings have always provided the common musical thread, over the past 15 plus years Ruder Than You has been mixing in dancehall, hip hop, rocksteady, and rub-a-dub – even adding elements of funk, jazz, and punk – to create their own unique sound.

Deals Gone Bad

Deal's Gone Bad is a band from Chicago, Illinois. Their sound mixes reggae, rocksteady, and ska music with American soul. They have been together since 1994, with numerous lineup changes over the years. The current incarnation has been mostly stable since 2003. The band hews to a more traditional ska-reggae sound while many others working in the genre morphed into a more punk variety.

Japanese ska is ska music made in Japan. It is, along with its counterparts elsewhere in the world, part of what has been called the "third wave of ska [that] combines the traditional Jamaican Club sound with metal, punk, folk, funk, and/or country."

Subb was a Canadian ska punk band formed in November 1992 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. Since their beginning in the early 1990s, the band released four full-length albums, one EP and one split CD on the labels Stomp Records and Underworld Records. Though they experienced several lineup changes over the years, founding members Mart Charron and Stef Gauthier remained in the group. The band's musical style initially blended elements of punk rock, ska, and hardcore into a genre popularly known as ska punk or "ska-core," which characterized their first two albums. In 2002 they shifted gears, moving away from this sound and producing an album with a heavy pop punk influence. Rude Records is an independent and international record label founded in 2000 and based in Milan, Italy. The label's artists are generally considered to fall under the genres of punk rock, pop punk, post-hardcore, and alternative rock. Derozer

Derozer is an Italian punk rock band, formed in July 1989 in the town of Vicenza. Starting from the second half of the 90es it is the most famous and influential Italian punk rock band and one of the most active bands in the alternative ska and punk music scene.

The Skints

The Skints are an English reggae punk band from London, described by Clash Music as “the torchbearers for modern British reggae music.” The Skints mix reggae, ska, dub, punk rock, dancehall, soul, and rap, touring extensively across the UK, Europe and the United States. Their album Swimming Lessons (2019) debuted at number 1 on the Billboard reggae chart. Their original style of music has been described as "tropical punk".

The Rough Kutz are a third wave ska band from Stoke-on-Trent, England.

Ellwood is an American reggae and ska band formed in the Santa Ynez Valley in 2009. The group consists of Mad Caddies frontman Chuck Robertson, Caddies members Graham Palmer and Todd Rosenberg, and former Caddies member and former Cherry Poppin' Daddies keyboardist Dustin Lanker.

Fuzigish

Fuzigish is a South african ska punk band from Gauteng, South Africa, established in 1997. They are noted for their high energy performances and have released five full-length albums and one compilation since their inception. The band retain a strong DIY ethos, having released all their albums independently through their own Red Ambulance record label, as well as setting up Punk Safari, their own touring company.
