Remember Remember were a Scottish instrumental band originating from Glasgow. Active between 2006 and 2015, they released three albums and other work on the Rock Action label, run by fellow Glasgow band Mogwai, with whom the band have also toured.

History

Remember Remember were originally the work of a single musician, Graeme Ronald, playing multiple instruments, including unusual percussion such as scissors, cutlery, coffee spoons, lighters and matches. [1] The 2008 self-titled album was performed by Ronald with a few collaborators, including James Swinburne, who would later be part of the band, and James Hamilton from Errors. The band was gradually expanded in terms of musicians, until by later 2009 there were seven members; the first music released by this line-up was the "RR Scorpii" EP in 2010 and The Quickening album in 2011, which also featured RM Hubbert. The band announced on 15 May 2014 the release of their third album Forgetting the Present. The album was released by Rock Action on 30 June 2014. [3]

Graeme Ronald announced the band's split in June 2015, with their final gig played that month. [4]

Musical style

The band was completely instrumental and Ronald has commented on this, saying "When you’re in a band and you’ve got a singer the focal point is there instantly. It’s not that the music doesn’t matter, but you can get away with the music being less interesting..." [1] Although described as post-rock, [5] Ronald was quick to point out that the association of this label with guitar heavy music is not as relevant to the band, who use a far wider range of instrumentation. Digital Summer was an American alternative metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 2006. The band has released three studio albums, Cause and Effect (2007) Counting the Hours (2010) and Breaking Point (2012). Additionally, in 2013, the band released After Hours: Unplugged & Rewired, which contained acoustic reinterpretations of songs from their first three albums. The band has had six singles break into major radio airplay, including multiple charting singles on Active Rock radio, as a completely independent artist.

Peter Richard McCracken is an Australian composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter, living and working in the Melbourne area. He has been a member of indie band The Plums (1992–1995), pop-rock band Deadstar (1997–2001) and country-tinged duo The Tulips (2002–2006). He married visual artist and bandmate Caroline Kennedy-McCracken. By 2005, the couple had two children.

Roddy Hart Scottish musician

Roderick John Hart is a Scottish singer–songwriter, film composer, and broadcaster from Glasgow. As a solo artist, he has released three records – Bookmarks, Sign Language and Road of Bones – and one EP The Dylan EP. Hart now releases albums with his band The Lonesome Fire, the first of which was Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire produced by Patti Smith and Morrissey producer Danton Supple. Released in late 2013 the album was nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year Award in April 2014. Their second album - Swithering - was co-produced by Paul Savage and released in late 2016. The band made their American network TV debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on 17 February 2014 and proved so popular they were invited back the following week to perform a week long residency on the show.

Albannach, Scottish Gaelic for "Scottish," is a band formed in 2005 in Glasgow, Scotland. Their traditional music is heavily percussive, driven by bass drums, bodhráns, and a single bagpipe. Albannach released their first album, the eponymous Albannach, in 2006. Since, the band has independently released four additional studio albums and frequently performs music at Highland games, Scottish festivals, and Celtic cultural events across North America and the United Kingdom. With little exception, Albannach's discography is instrumental, though several vocal songs are included in live shows.

Jaws (band)

JAWS are an English indie rock band formed in Birmingham, England in 2012 after singer Connor Schofield had posted a demo (Cameron) online that received enough positive feedback to encourage him to start a band with friends from Halesowen College. They have often been identified as part of the Digbeth-based B-Town scene.

The discography of Scottish rock band The Twilight Sad consists of five studio albums, four compilation albums, fifteen singles, and five extended plays (EPs). The band currently consists of James Graham, Andy MacFarlane, Johnny Docherty (bass), Brendan Smith (keyboards) and Sebastien Schultz (drums). The Kilsyth-based band formed in 2003 and were signed to Fat Cat Records when Alex Knight, co-founder of the label, went to Glasgow to watch the band perform their third gig and signed them on the spot. The band released their debut EP The Twilight Sad in November 2006 in the United States only, followed by their debut album Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters in April 2007, which garnered widespread critical acclaim. The album spawned two singles, "That Summer, at Home I Had Become the Invisible Boy" in April, and "And She Would Darken the Memory" in July. The following year, the band released Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did, a mini-album of reworked versions of songs from Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters and two non-album tracks, inspired by stripped-down live performances. A collection of live versions and previously unreleased tracks entitled Killed My Parents and Hit the Road was released in December 2008. The Twilight Sad's second studio album, Forget the Night Ahead, was released in September 2009 to further acclaim and marked a shift in the band's direction towards a darker and more streamlined sound. The album produced three singles: "I Became a Prostitute" in August 2009, "Seven Years of Letters" in October 2009, and "The Room" in April 2010. Founding bassist Craig Orzel left the band in February 2010, and the band released The Wrong Car EP in September of that year.

Sacred Paws is a Scottish rock band, comprising Rachel Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers, who met as members of the band Golden Grrrls. Their debut album Strike a Match won the 2017 Scottish Album of the Year Award.
