Remya Nambeesan is an Indian actress and playback singer, who primarily works in Malayalam and Tamil films in supporting roles to character roles.

Early life and family

Remya Nambeesan was born in Chottanikkara, Cochin, Kerala [1] to Subrahmaniam Unni and Jayasree. [2] [3] Her father is a former theatre artiste, who was an active member of troupes such as "Jubilee" and "Harishree". She has a brother, Rahul, [2] who has worked as the music director in the Malayalam movie Philips and the Monkey Pen and as a playback singer in the film Thattathin Marayathu. [4] She attended the Mahatma Gandhi Public School, Ambadimala near Chottanikkara. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communicative English from St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam. [5]

Career

Remya started her career with minor supporting roles in the following years in films including Sathyan Anthikad's satire film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001) [6] and Gramophone (2003). [2] [7] [8]

She was seen in Bachelor Party (2012) [27] [28] and in Ivan Megharoopan (2012), she featured in a cameo appearance. [24] She also signed up for Saji Surendran's comedy film Husbands in Goa (2012). [27] and Oru Yathrayil (2013). [29] [30] [31] [32] [33] [34] [35]

Traffic is a 2011 Indian Malayalam-language road action thriller film written by brothers Bobby and Sanjay and directed by Rajesh Pillai. The film features an ensemble cast consisting of Sreenivasan, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Rahman, Anoop Menon, Sandhya, Roma, Remya Nambeesan, Namitha Pramod, Lena, Jose Prakash and Krishna. The film has its narrative in a hyperlink format. The film opened on 7 January 2011, to a positive reception. A multi-narrative thriller that intertwines multiple stories around one particular incident, Traffic is inspired from an actual event that happened in Chennai. Owing to its critical and commercial success, Traffic was remade into Tamil as Chennaiyil Oru Naal, in Kannada as Crazy Star and is also remade in Hindi, with the same name. This was also the last film of the veteran actor Jose Prakash. The film has a cult status.

English: An Autumn in London is a 2013 Indian Malayalam film written by Ajayan Venugopalan and directed by Shyamaprasad. A drama with slight tinges of black humour and satire, the film stars Jayasurya, Nivin Pauly, Mukesh, Nadia Moidu, Remya Nambeesan. The film is produced by Binu Dev under the banner of Navarang Screens and features music composed by Rex Vijayan, whilst cinematography is handled by Udayan Ambaadi and is edited by Vinod Sukumaran. The film tells the story of the lives of several Malayalees living in London.

"Muthuchippy Poloru" is a Malayalam song composed by Shaan Rahman that featured in the film Thattathin Marayathu. The lyrics was written by Anu Elizabeth Jose. It was sung by Sachin Warrier and actress Remya Nambeesan. The song was one of the most popular Malayalam songs of 2012 and won several awards. It was later reused in the Telugu remake of Thattathin Marayathu, Saheba Subramanyam, as "Muddu Muddu".

Telugabbai is a 2013 Indian Telugu language film written and directed by OS Avinash. The film stars Tanish, Remya and Tashu Kaushik. The story is set between two Telugu families who migrated to Malaysia long ago, says the director. The movie has been shot completely in Malaysia. This was the first Telugu film to be shot completely in Malaysia. Mejo Joseph composed the music of the movie. The film was titled Salamath first.

<i>Up & Down: Mukalil Oralundu</i> 2013 Indian film

Up & Down: Mukalil Oralundu is a 2013 Malayalam psychological thriller film directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar. It is very loosely based on the 2011 Hollywood film Elevator. The story unfolds in a lift where nine people are stuck. Indrajith, Prathap Pothen, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, Rejith Menon, Baiju, Nandhu, Remya Nambeesan, Sruthi Menon, and master Devaraman play the nine characters who got trapped inside the lift. Meghana Raj, Vijayakumar, Jaikrishnan, Kochu Preman are the other important cast. The film is produced by V. Balachandran, R. Karunamurthi and Latha Kurien Rajeev under the banner of Blue Mermaid Picture Company. The script is penned by Sunny Joseph and Manuel George and camera is cranked by Jomon Thomas.

<i>Damaal Dumeel</i> 2014 Indian film

Damaal Dumeel is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language black comedy-thriller film directed by Sree and produced by C J Jayakumar. The film features Vaibhav and Remya Nambeesan in the leading roles, while Sayaji Shinde and Kota Srinivasa Rao play pivotal roles. The film was released on 18 April 2014 to mostly positive reviews. The film was dubbed and released in Telugu as Dhana Dhan in 2016.

<i>Estate</i> (2022 film) 2022 horror drama film

Estate is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language horror drama film directed by Karthik Vilvakrish. The film stars Kalaiyarasan, Sunaina and Remya Nambeesan in the lead roles, with Ashok Selvan in an extended cameo. It was released on 9 December 2022.
