Renu Vig is an Indian academic and professor, who currently serves as the 14th vice-chancellor of Panjab University. [1] She is the first woman vice-chancellor of Panjab University. [2] [3]

Education

Vig holds a PhD in engineering and technology in the area of artificial intelligence and neural networks. She completed her Bachelor of Engineering from Punjab Engineering College. [4]

Career

Vig has served as dean of university instructions of Panjab University, prior to her appointment as vice-chancellor. [5] She succeeded Professor Raj Kumar who resigned from his position in January 2023. [6] She has also served as director, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University.

Awards

Vig won the N K Iyengar Memorial Prize for research paper on Fuzzy Modelling for Ignition Timing Control. She also bagged the Corps of Engineers Prize for research paper on Fuzzy Diagnostic System for Coronary Artery Disease. [7]

Khaleda Ekram was a Bangladeshi architect, professor, researcher, and academician. She served as the 12th vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). She was the former dean of the faculty of architecture and planning and head of the department of architecture at BUET. She was the first woman to be appointed as the vice-chancellor of BUET. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Literature and Education.

Satinder Vir Kessar is an Indian synthetic organic chemist, academic and an Emeritus professor of Panjab University. He is known for his researches in steroidal and heterocyclic chemistry. He is an elected fellow of The World Academy of Sciences and all the three major Indian science academies, viz. The Indian National Science Academy, the Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences, India. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 1972, for his contributions to chemical sciences.

Gurdip Singh Randhawa was an Indian academic who served as Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and as Principal of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Delhi. He received Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award of India, in 2009 in science and engineering.
