Reception

Anime Feminist and Anime News Network reviewed the series' premiere with both noting it uses several tropes which Gen Urobuchi is known for. While the setting was found interesting for mixing Oriental and Occidental content in a historical Japan, the lack of female characters was criticized especially due to the suicide of Kurima's fiancée at the end of first episode. Nevertheless, the character designs and animation were praised, fitting especially for the action scene. [21] [22]

Tokyo Revengers is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. The story follows Takemichi Hanagaki, a 26-year-old temp worker with a gloomy life, who learns that his ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, has died in a dispute involving the Tokyo Manji Gang. The next day, while returning from a part-time job, Takemichi gets pushed off the subway platform by someone. Buddy Daddies is an original Japanese anime action comedy television series animated by P.A. Works and produced by Aniplex and Nitroplus. It was directed by Yoshiyuki Asai and written by Vio Shimokura of Nitroplus and Yūko Kakihara, with Katsutoshi Kitagawa of Round Table composing the music. Katsumi Enami provided the original character designs, and Souichirou Sako adapted the designs for animation while also serving as chief animation director along with Sanae Satō. It aired from January to April 2023, on Tokyo MX and other networks.

<i>The Misfit of Demon King Academy</i> season 2 2023 Japanese anime series

The second season of The Misfit of Demon King Academy, titled The Misfit of Demon King Academy II, is an anime television series based on the light novel series of the same title written by Shu and illustrated by Yoshinori Shizuma. On March 6, 2021, it was announced that the series would receive a second split-cour season with the staff and cast reprising their respective roles. Yūichirō Umehara replaced Tatsuhisa Suzuki as the voice of Anos Voldigoad for the second season. The first cour aired from January 8 to September 24, 2023. The opening theme is "Seien" by Lenny code fiction, while the ending theme is "Esoa" (エソア) by Momosumomosu. On February 11, 2023, it was announced that the seventh episode of the season and beyond would be postponed due to COVID-19. The season restarted broadcasting from the first episode on July 9, 2023. The second cour premiered on April 13, 2024. The second opening theme is "Maō" by Burnout Syndromes and Nao Tōyama, while the second ending theme is "Shingetsu" by Tomori Kusunoki.

Mayonaka Punch is an upcoming original anime television series animated by P.A. Works and produced by Kadokawa Corporation. The series is created by Dōga Tōkō Shōjo and directed by Shū Honma, with Hideaki Shirasaka serving as screenwriter and Ryōta Arima adapting Tsukasa Kotobuki's original character designs for animation. The anime is scheduled to premiere in July 2024. A manga adaptation illustrated by Tomomi Usui began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace magazine in March 2024, while a light novel adaptation written by Tsuzuro Hibi and illustrated by Tsukasa Kotobuki has been announced.
