Félix Sesúmaga Ugarte was a Spanish (Basque) footballer during the 1910s and the 1920s. Born in Lejona, Vizcaya, he played as a forward for Arenas Club de Getxo, FC Barcelona, Racing de Sama de Langreo, Athletic Bilbao and Spain. Sesúmaga won the Copa del Rey three times with three clubs and also played in two successive finals for two clubs. In 1920 Sesúmaga was also a member of the very first Selección that played at the Olympic Games in Belgium. He scored twice as Spain beat the Netherlands 3–1 in the play-off for the silver medal. He played 8 times for Spain, scoring 4 goals between 1920 and 1923.
Puerto Rico competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics which was held in Beijing, People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. The American territory with a population of four million people qualified 22 athletes in eight different sports. The appearance of the Puerto Rican delegation at the Beijing Olympics marked the commonwealth's sixteenth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics, and its twenty-second appearance at any Olympic games, since its debut at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, England. Of its competitors participating in events that involve progression by heats, six athletes advanced at least one round in their events, and two advanced at least two rounds, with Asunción Ocasio almost medaling bronze in taekwondo. However, there were no Puerto Rican medalists at the Beijing Olympics. McWilliams Arroyo, a boxer, bore Puerto Rico's flag at the ceremonies.
Thierry Rey is a French judoka, world champion and olympic champion. He won a gold medal in the extra lightweight (60 kg) division at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He is the father of Martin Rey-Chirac, as a result of a relation with Claude Chirac, a daughter of late president Jacques Chirac.

Iván Rodríguez Padilla is a Puerto Rican former sprinter who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics and in the 1960 Summer Olympics. He finished third in the 1959 Pan American Games 4×400 metres Relay. In the 1959 Pan American Games 400 metres Rodríguez finished fifth.
Neftalí Rivera Oliveras was a Puerto Rican basketball player who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics and in the 1976 Summer Olympics. He holds the record for most points in a game in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional when he scored 79 points on May 22, 1974. In that game he achieved the record by making 34 field goals and 11 free throws. He died on December 23, 2017, at Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, due to respiratory problems.
Thomas Whalan is an Australian water polo player who competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics, in the 2004 Summer Olympics (Vice-Captain), in the 2008 Summer Olympics (Captain) and in the 2012 Summer Olympics representing Australia in over 350 internationals. He competed for the Sydney University Lions Water Polo Club in the Australia National Water Polo League winning three titles and for Club Natacio Barcelona in the Spanish League where he was equal highest goalscorer and won the Copa Del Rey in 2003. Thomas competed for Club Atletic Barceloneta where he won the Copa Del Rey 2004, 2010 and League Title in 2010. He played in the Italian League 2005–2009 with SS Nervi (2005-6) and Rari Nantes Savona (2006-2009).

Luis Ramon Rivera Rivera is a Puerto Rican gymnast. Rivera had won a total of three medals at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, including two golds for the team all-around and pommel horse. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he finished fourteenth in the men's individual all-around final, with a total technical score of 90.175. He is also affiliated with Federacion Puertorriqueña de Gimnasia, and is coached and trained by Jose and Juan R. Colon.
