Newmarket High School is a secondary school located in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. It is one of four high schools in Newmarket under the jurisdiction of the York Region District School Board and currently educates approximately 1400 students from Grades 9 to 12. The phoenix and the Viking are the school's symbols and the school's colours are purple and gold.

Prior to that, most of its students went to Newmarket High School. The founding students have demonstrated the initiative of character traits by creating original 'character feathers' which can be found in the main hall.

Lori Nichol is a Canadian figure skating choreographer and coach. She was a performer for the John Curry Company from 1983 to 1986 and won the silver medal at the World Professional Championships in 1983. She is a four-time recipient of the Professional Skaters' Association's Choreographer of the Year Award and the 2010 recipient of the PSA Sonia Henie award for bringing positive and favorable recognition to the sport. She was elected to the Professional Skater's Association Hall of Fame as an Outstanding Contributor in 2011, the United States Figure Skating Association's Hall of Fame as an Outstanding Contributor in 2012, and the Skate Canada Hall of Fame as an Outstanding Contributor in 2012. In March 2014, she was elected into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.

Woodbridge College is a secondary school in Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada. The school opened its doors in 1958 as Woodbridge High School, and remained a public secondary school until 1991, when it became an alternative school, changing its name to Woodbridge College, with students in grades 7-OAC. In 2000, Woodbridge College's alternative school status ended and it returned to being a public secondary school with grades 9 to 12. The school's name as "Woodbridge College" remains unchanged to present day. The school's current enrolment is approximately 523 students. During the 2015 to 2016 school year, Fraser Institute ranked the school at 279 out of 740 in Ontario.

Bill Crothers Secondary School is an athletic based high school in the community of Unionville in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It was the newest secondary school in the York Region District School Board for a number of years, since 2008. Named for the former Olympic athlete and Chair of the York Region District School Board, Bill Crothers, the school opened its doors to Grade 9 and 10 students in August 2008. The school is 32 acres (130,000 m2) and cost an estimated $32 million to build. The school was formerly an 18-hole golf course, Unionville Golf Centre, opened in 1961.

The 2013 Canadian Figure Skating Championships were held from January 13 to 20, 2013 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The event determined the national champions of Canada and was organized by Skate Canada, the nation's figure skating governing body. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dancing on the senior, junior, and novice levels. Although the official International Skating Union terminology for female skaters in the singles category is ladies, Skate Canada uses women officially. The results of this competition are among the selection criteria for the 2013 World Championships, 2013 Four Continents Championships, and the 2013 World Junior Championships.

She is a 2018 Olympic gold medallist in the team event, the 2017 World bronze medallist, 2017 Four Continents silver medallist, 2014 CS Autumn Classic champion, and two-time Canadian national champion. She represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
