Roanne Bardsley is a Welsh television screenwriter, best known her work on the long-running Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks . [1] She was originally from Lampeter, later moving to Liverpool. [2]

Career

Following an apprenticeship, Bardsley became a storyliner for Hollyoaks, in 2012. Bardsley graduated to writing over 60 episodes on the series, starting in 2015. In 2018, she won Best Single Episode at the British Soap Awards. [3] Later, she won the writer’s award for Best Long Running TV Series for Hollyoaks at the Writers’ Guild Awards 2020. [4] Bardsley was also selected as one of the Edinburgh TV Festival's 'Ones To Watch'. [5]

She went on to write for Emmy-winning Netflix's children's drama Free Rein , the supernatural thriller series The Rising for Sky Max, [6] and prison drama Screw . [7] Bardsley would join the writing team of The Buccaneers , based on the unfinished novel of the same name by American novelist Edith Wharton, and acted as associate producer on the television adaptation of Boiling Point . Bardsley served as an associate producer and writer on the Netflix series Everything Now .

In 2005, Finneran originated the lead female role in the stage play On the Shore of the Wide World and was awarded the Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Pete McTighe is a British screenwriter and executive producer. He is originating writer of Wentworth, a female ensemble prison drama series that won Most Outstanding and Most Popular Drama at the Logie Awards. He is the creator and writer of the BBC1 mystery thriller series The Pact and has written various television productions in the UK and internationally including Doctor Who, The Rising, Glitch, Nowhere Boys and A Discovery of Witches. McTighe has received five Australian Writers Guild Award and one Welsh BAFTA nomination for his work.

He appeared in the BBC Two drama The Fall in 2013 and 2014, Peaky Blinders Series 5 and Series 6, and Breakdown in which he appears alongside Craig Fairbrass, James Cosmo, Bruce Payne, Olivia Grant and Tamer Hassan. In 2022, Scanlan appeared as Marcus MacLeod in the British remake of Call My Agent!: Ten Percent. He has since been in the popular RTÉ drama Kin where he performs a leading role as a character named Jimmy Kinsella.
