Robin Mark Ventura is an American former professional baseball third baseman and manager. Ventura played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox,New York Mets,New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was also the manager for the White Sox for five seasons. The White Sox selected Ventura with the tenth overall pick in the 1988 amateur draft from Oklahoma State University (OSU). He is a six-time Rawlings Gold Glove winner,two-time MLB All-Star selection and a National College Baseball Hall of Fame inductee.

Born in Pennsylvania,Parrish grew up in Southern California and excelled in both baseball and football. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 1974,and after four years in the minor leagues,he played for the Tigers for a decade from 1977 to 1986. He later played for the Philadelphia Phillies (1987–1988),California Angels (1989–1992),Seattle Mariners (1992),Cleveland Indians (1993),Pittsburgh Pirates (1994),and Toronto Blue Jays (1995).

He played for 15 seasons as a catcher in Major League Baseball in 1961 and from 1964 to 1977,most notably for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics and the Minnesota Twins. Although Roof did not produce impressive offensive statistics,he excelled defensively as a catcher which enabled him to sustain a lengthy career in the major leagues due to his valuable defensive abilities. He was the first player acquired by the expansion Toronto Blue Jays.
