Robert G. "Bob" Knight (born July 31, 1941) was the Republican mayor of Wichita, Kansas [1] for seven terms. [2] [3] He first ran for office, Wichita City Council, in 1979. He also served under Democratic Governor Joan Finney as Kansas Secretary of Commerce and Housing. He is generally known as "Bob Knight." [4]

Dennis Lynn Rader is an American serial killer known as BTK or the BTK Strangler. Rader gave himself the name "BTK". Between 1974 and 1991, Rader killed ten people in the Wichita, Kansas metro area and sent taunting letters to police and newspapers describing the details of his crimes. After a decade-long hiatus, Rader resumed sending letters in 2004, leading to his 2005 arrest and subsequent guilty plea. The Wichita State Shockers football team was the NCAA Division I football program of Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. The Shockers fielded a team from 1897 to 1986. The 2019 Wichita mayoral election took place on November 5, 2019, to elect the mayor of Wichita, Kansas. The election is officially nonpartisan. Incumbent Jeff Longwell ran for reelection and faced Brandon Whipple in the runoff election. Whipple defeated Longwell, who conceded on election night.
