James Goodall Francis, Australian colonial politician, was the 9th Premier of Victoria. Francis was born in London, and emigrated to Van Diemen's Land in 1847, where he became a businessman. He moved to Victoria in 1853 and became a leading Melbourne merchant. He was a director of the Bank of New South Wales and president of the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce. He married Mary Ogilvie and had eight sons and seven daughters.

He was the leader of the Tasmanian Labor Party from 1988 until his retirement in 1996. William Michael Hodgman AM QC was an Australian politician and lawyer. He was a member of the Liberal Party and served as Minister for the Capital Territory in the Fraser Government from 1980 to 1983. He was active in both state and federal politics, serving in the Tasmanian Legislative Council (1966–1974), Australian House of Representatives (1975–1987), and Tasmanian House of Assembly. His son Will Hodgman was Premier of Tasmania for 6 years, until his resignation in January 2020.

Carole Susan Cains is an Australian former politician. She was born in Derby, England. In 1992, she was elected to the Tasmanian House of Assembly representing Braddon for the Liberal Party. She was defeated in 1996, but in 1997 was elected in a countback to replace Roger Groom, who had retired. Cains was again defeated in 1998 after the size of the Assembly was reduced.
Matthew Guy Groom (born 24 November 1970) is an Australian lawyer and former politician. He was a Liberal Party member for Denison in the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 2010 to 2018. He served as Minister for State Growth, Energy, Environment, Parks and Heritage. Groom also acted as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice during the extended illness of the late Vanessa Goodwin. In September 2017, Groom announced his retirement from politics, giving as a reason the negative impact politics has had on his family life. In August 2018 he was appointed to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

After military service during the First World War, Francis Foster was a successful businessman who served as member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly between 1937 and 1941.
