Roger A. Krone (born July 25,1956) is the president and chief executive officer of the Boy Scouts of America. He was previously CEO of Leidos. A pilot and aerospace engineer,Krone worked for 45 years in the aerospace industry,holding senior program management and finance positions at Boeing,McDonnell Douglas,and General Dynamics.
A native of Cincinnati, [2] Krone earned a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology [3] [4] [5] where he also became interested in flying airplanes. [3] In 1981,Krone earned a master's degree in aerospace engineering from University of Texas at Arlington and in 1986 an MBA from Harvard Business School. [4] [5]
In 1978 Krone joined General Dynamics,where he worked in engineering,program management,and finance. [4] From 1984 to 1986 he attended Harvard Business School where he earned a Master of Business Administration degree. [4] [5] In 1992 Krone joined McDonnell Douglas where he worked as director of financial planning and became vice president and treasurer of the company. [4] When McDonnell Douglas merged with Boeing in 1997,Krone became a Boeing employee. [5] In 2008 he became the president of Boeing's Network and Space Systems division,leading about 15,000 employees in 35 states. [4] [5]
On July 14,2014,Krone joined Leidos as CEO. [6] [4]
In November 2023,Krone was selected as president and CEO of Boy Scouts of America,the first new CEO after the organization had emerged from bankruptcy in the wake of the $2.46 billion trust fund set aside for victims of Boy Scouts of America sex abuse cases. [7] [8] One of his first initiatives as CEO was to preside over the rebranding of BSA as Scouting America in recognition of the more than 176,000 girls and young women active in the program having been opened to both genders in 2017. Krone earned his Eagle Scout award in 1973. [10]
In 2021,he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for contributions in Aerospace and Electronics,Communication &Information Systems. [11]

The BSA was founded in 1910;about 130 million Americans have participated in its programs. Served by 477,000 adult volunteers. BSA became a founding member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922.

Harry Curtis Stonecipher is an American business executive who was president and chief executive officer of American aerospace companies:Sundstrand,McDonnell Douglas,and The Boeing Company. Stonecipher was widely credited with the seeming resurgence of Boeing after government procurement scandals. However,his tenure also included major decisions to change Boeing's design and sourcing process for the new 787 airliner. These decisions later proved to be organizationally and financially disastrous for the company. Stonecipher was forced to resign from Boeing following the disclosure of an affair with a subordinate,in violation of the Boeing Code of Conduct.

The Silver Buffalo Award is the national-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. It is presented for noteworthy and extraordinary service to youth on a national basis,either as part of,or independent of the Scouting program. The award is made by the National Court of Honor and the recipient need not be a registered member of the BSA.
Lone Scouts of America (LSA) was a Scouting organization for American boys that operated from 1915 until it merged with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) in 1924. The LSA was founded by W. D. Boyce,publisher of the Chicago Ledger and the Saturday Blade and one of the founders of the BSA. Boyce felt that the program of the BSA did not help the rural boy who could not find enough other boys to form a troop or a patrol. James E. West,the first Chief Scout Executive of the BSA,disagreed with Boyce's concept,believing that the 4-H program was fulfilling the role. After Boyce left the BSA,he started the Lone Scouts of America and incorporated it on January 9,1915. Boyce became the executive officer or Chief Totem and Frank Allan Morgan became the editor of The Lone Scout. In October 1915,Boyce appointed all of his paperboys as members of the LSA and published the first issue of The Lone Scout magazine.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake,Illinois,going on to Southeast Missouri State University earning a Bachelor of Science in 1973. He was succeeded by Roger Krone,the former CEO of Leidos,on November 8,2023,months after announcing his intent to retire.
