Rohan Joshi is a YouTuber. He was one of founding members of the creative agency All India Bakchod . Joshi scripted and starred in several YouTube sketches for All India Bakchod, and was one of the co-creators of the satirical news comedy show On Air with AIB . Now, he runs his own YouTube channel and makes reaction videos with Tanmay Bhat and Nishant Tanwar.

Early life and education

Joshi attended K J Somaiya College of Engineering, but eventually dropped out. [2] He attended Jai Hind College and subsequently worked as a journalist for a period of time. Before working for CNBC and Times Now, Joshi also attended Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, where he received his postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism.

Career

In the late 2000s, Joshi was a contributor to JLT, a humour magazine based in Mumbai. [3] In addition to performing across India, Joshi served as a humour columnist for several publications including Mid-Day . In 2011, he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2011 and 2012, he co-wrote the Filmfare awards. In addition, he has performed in over 250 shows. [4] Joshi spent a couple of years at Vir Das's comedy platform Weirdass, writing live comedy shows with Tanmay Bhat and Ashish Shakya. With Gursimran Khamba, they co-wrote television scripts and jokes for MTV, Channel V, and the Filmfare Awards. In 2013, the four started the SoundCloud podcast All India Bakchod (AIB). [3] Joshi scripted and starred in several YouTube sketches for All India Bakchod, and was a co-creator of the satirical news comedy show On Air with AIB . Following controversy and sexual misconduct allegations against AIB members, the comedy company ceased operating in 2018. [3]

In April 2019, Joshi confirmed that he was working on an hour-long stand-up comedy special for Amazon Prime Video. [5] On 10 January 2020, Joshi's special Wake And Bake was released on Amazon Prime Video.

Controversies

Joshi's tweet over comedian Raju Srivastav's death caused widespread outrage on Twitter. He later deleted his tweet. [6] [7]

He played a supporting role in the 2016 Netflix sex comedy film Brahman Naman. He created the 2017 Amazon Prime Video's series Laakhon Mein Ek. On 9 December 2020, Rath married actress Sulagna Panigrahi.

It began in 2012 as a humour/pop-culture podcast co-started by comedians Tanmay Bhat and Gursimran Khamba. Their friends and contemporary comedians, Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya were frequent guests and the four co-founded the YouTube channel in 2013 and began making sketches. In 2017, he released his own one-hour comedy special, Keep It Real on Amazon Prime Video. He made his debut on the big screen with the movie Noor, alongside Sonakshi Sinha. In 2018, he was also a judge on Comicstaan, a comedic reality TV show, on Amazon Prime Video. He released his new special Is this it? on YouTube in 2024.

<i>All India Bakchod Knockout</i> 2015 Indian film

The All India Bakchod Knockout, a.k.a. AIB Knockout was a celebrity roast adaptation created by Mumbai based creative agency All India Bakchod (AIB). It was performed and filmed in December, 2014, and was uploaded on their YouTube channel on January 28, 2015. It was recorded at the NSCI Dome in Worli. It was hosted by Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor were roasted. The show was subsequently removed from their channel on February 3, 2015. AIB removed the show because it attracted widespread public backlash from religious groups, Bollywood actors, and certain right-wing political activists.

<i>Laakhon Mein Ek</i> Indian TV series or programme

Laakhon Mein Ek is an Indian television series created by Biswa Kalyan Rath produced by OML Production. It is an Amazon Prime Video original series. Season 1 premiered on October 13, 2017, premise of the series revolved around the struggles of Aakash, a teenage student from Raipur who is sent to a coaching centre Genius Infinity in Visakhapatnam for preparation of IIT entrance exam. Season 2 premiered on April 12, 2019, and was about Dr. Shreya and her fight with government for healthcare in Sitlapur Village.

<i>On Air With AIB</i> Indian web television satire show

On Air With AIB is an Indian web television satire show created by All India Bakchod on Star India's digital platform Hotstar. It aired between 2015 and 2018. It was modeled after The Daily Show, SNL, and Last Week Tonight. The first season was replayed on StarPlus and Star World on the weekends. Seasons two and three were Hotstar digital exclusives, and shorter segments were uploaded on the AIB YouTube channel. The show was produced by Only Much Louder, a Mumbai-based entertainment company and AIB's former management, and was cancelled in its third season due to two separate instances of lack of redressal of sexual misconduct complaints by employees against collaborators, by the group's co-founders Tanmay Bhat and Gursimranjeet Singh Khamba. The opening theme "Tragedy Mein Comedy", is written, and performed, by Mumbai-based MC and producer Naezy. The track is produced by the production duo StunnahSezBeatz. All studio episodes were shot in Mumbai.

Four 45-minute episodes were available on Netflix on 20 August 2021, while the final two episodes streamed on 27 August 2021.
