Russell Boast is a South African and American casting director for film and television. [1] [2]
Russell was born in Durban, South Africa. He graduated from the University of South Africa and Durban University of Technology (DUT) in 1994. [3] He started his career as a casting assistant on the film, Beyond Borders. [4] Russell moved to Los Angeles in 2004. He is the former president of Casting Society of America. [5] He is also a professor and the head of casting at Chapman University. [6]

The Casting Society, formerly known as Casting Society of America (CSA), was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1982 as a professional society of about 1,200 casting directors and associate casting directors for film, television, theatre, and commercials in Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, and the United States. The nonprofit organization announced the name change from Casting Society of America to Casting Society on February 10, 2022. The society is not to be confused with an industry union. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represent most of the major casting directors and associate casting directors in Hollywood. Members use the post-nominal letters "CSA" when credited for their work.

Reuben Cannon is an American film producer and casting director. Cannon was the first black casting director in Hollywood; he was the head of television casting for Warner Brothers from 1977 to 1978, and started his own casting agency in 1978. Through this company, he has cast nearly 100 television series, made-for-TV movies, and feature films. He won the Artios Award for Best Casting for Feature Film—Drama for The Color Purple, which was the feature film debut of Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey, and an early film of Danny Glover. Cannon has also worked as a producer on most of Tyler Perry's television shows and movies.

Cindy Tolan is an American casting director and producer. Her career began in theatre, before she transitioned to television and film. She was awarded a BAFTA for her work as casting director of West Side Story in 2021. For the film she auditioned 30,000 people in order to create an authentic cast with performers of Latin descent. She is credited with the discovery of Rachel Zegler and for encouraging Ariana DeBose to audition. In 2019 she was nominated for two Black Reel Awards for different films, competing with herself in the Best Ensemble category for If Beale Street Could Talk and Sorry to Bother You. In 2018 she awarded an Emmy for her work on The Marvelous Mrs Maisel: Tolan was part of a team who cast the first season, but subsequently was the sole casting director for seasons two and three. She is a member of the Casting Society of America.
