Salim Miya Ansari is a Nepalese politician. In the 1994 election he was elected to the Pratinidhi Sabha as the candidate of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) from the Bara-4 constituency. Ansari won with 20148 votes against 16145 votes for Pharmulaha Mansur of the Nepali Congress. [1] Ansari served as Minister of Forest and Soil Conservation in the CPN(UML) government formed in 1994. When the CPN(UML) was divided in 1998, Ansari joined the Communist Party of Nepal (ML), and later became Minister of Tourism in the coalition government. [2] [3] When CPN(ML) and CPN(UML) reunited, Ansari again became a CPN(UML) leader.

In December 2002, Ansari left CPN(UML). He was then a Central Committee member of the party. [4] He subsequently formed the Samajbadi Party Nepal. [2]

In July 2005 Ansari was appointed Minister of Forest and Soil Conservation by King Gyanendra. [5]

On January 30, 2007, Ansari was arrested following riots in the Terai. [6] [7] He was released on February 18, 2007 [8]

Binod Kumar Shah is a Nepalese politician. In the 1994 election he was elected to the Pratinidhi Sabha as the candidate of the Nepal Workers Peasants Party from the Dailekh-2 constituency. Shah won with 13640 votes against 6725 votes for Ranga Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Congress. Shah later joined the Communist Party of Nepal along with his entire team in the districts of Bheri and Karnali zones, which caused a rift between NWPP and CPN(UML). In July 2005, he was appointed Assistant Minister for Water Resource by King Gyanendra. Now, he has been engaging in politics of Nepal being as a Central Committee member of Nepal Communist Party.

The first Nepalese Constituent Assembly was a unicameral body of 601 members that served from May 28, 2008, to May 28, 2012. It was formed as a result of the first Constituent Assembly election held on April 10, 2008. The Constituent Assembly (CA) was tasked with writing a new constitution, and acting as the interim legislature for a term of two years. 240 members were elected in single-seat constituencies, 335 were elected through proportional representation, and the remaining 26 seats were reserved for nominated members.

General elections were held in Nepal in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017 to elect the 275 members of the fifth House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. The election was held alongside the first provincial elections for the seven provincial assemblies. A political deadlock between the governing Nepali Congress and the winning left-wing coalition over the system used to elect the upper house led to delay in forming the new government. Following the announcement of final result by the Election Commission, K.P. Oli of Communist Party of Nepal was sworn in as Prime Minister on 15 February 2018 by the President according to Article 76 (2) of the constitution. He passed a Motion of Confidence on 11 March 2018 with 208 votes.

General elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 to elect the 275 members of the House of Representatives. There were two ballots in the election; one to elect 165 members from single-member constituencies via FPTP, and the other to elect the remaining 110 members from a single nation-wide constituency via party-list proportional representation.

Municipal election for Janakpur took place on 13 May 2022, with all 127 positions up for election across 25 wards. The electorate elected a mayor, a deputy mayor, 25 ward chairs and 100 ward members. An indirect election will also be held to elect five female members and an additional three female members from the Dalit and minority community to the municipal executive.

Prakash Jwala is a Nepali politician who served in the House of Representatives from 1999 until 2008 and in the Karnali Provincial Assembly from 2018 until his expulsion in April 2021, representing the Salyan 1 constituency as a member of the Communist Party of Nepal. After his expulsion, Jwala joined the newly-formed Communist Party of Nepal, and is running as one of its candidates for the House of Representatives in the 2022 Nepalese general election.
