Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain SM is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the 52nd Commandant of the Indian Military Academy. [2] [3] He has earlier served as the commander of the XVI Corps. [4] [5]

The XVI Corps is a corps of the Indian Army raised on 1 June 1972 with Lieutenant General J F R Jacob as its first General Officer Commanding (GOC). It has its headquarters at Nagrota Cantonment,, Jammu and Kashmir. In 2005, IX Corps was raised in southern part of the XVI Corps' area, taking over two of its divisions.

Lieutenant General Dr. Konsam Himalay Singh PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM is a former Lieutenant General of the Indian Army. Lieutenant General Faridoon Noshir 'Billy' Billimoria, PVSM (1933–2005) was an Indian Army officer who was the 15th General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Central Command. He commanded a battalion in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. He was also the commandant of the Defence Services Staff College in 1986.

In the Indian Armed Forces women are allowed to join in combat service support branches and in non combatant roles only and they can only become officers except the Corps of Military Police of the Indian Army where women can become sepoys too. The Indian Air Force had 13.09% (2018) and 8.50% (2014) women; the Indian Navy 6% (2018) and 3% (2014); the Indian Army 3.80% (2018) and 3% (2014). As of 2020, three officers have the rank of lieutenant-general or equivalent, all in the Medical Services. In May 2021, 83 women were inducted as sepoys for the first time in the Indian Army, in the Corps of Military Police.

Prior to this, he served as the 47th Commander, XV Corps of the Indian Army between 1 February 2018 and 7 February 2019. Prior to this he was the Director General of Military operations for one year including during the Doklam crisis in 2017. During his tenure as Corps Commander maximum terrorists were neutralized in comparison to the last one decade.

The Commandant of the Indian Military Academy is a post created in 1932 for the purpose of leading the Indian Military Academy in its education of "gentleman cadets". The Commandant must hold a rank of lieutenant general or above. There is no minimum nor maximum term of service in this position though in practice commandants have served anywhere from a few months to 4 years in the position.

Lieutenant General Chandi Prasad Mohanty is a retired General Officer in the Indian Army. He was the 42nd Vice Chief of the Army Staff and assumed office on 1 February 2021, following the retirement of Satinder Kumar Saini. He was previously the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Southern Command, assuming command on 30 January 2020. He was trained at RIMC Dehradun.

He took over from Lieutenant General B. S. Raju after the latter completed his term as the Corps Commander. Lieutenant General Yogendra Dimri, PVSM, AVSM, VSM is a former General Officer in the Indian Army. He last served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command in April 2021. He previously served as a Corps Commander and as Chief of Staff of the Western Command, he was appointed as a military attaché in the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia and directing staff at the Defence Services Staff College. Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh was a Deputy Chief Staff of the Indian Army from 2014 to 2016. Currently, he is the 8th Governor of Uttarakhand since 2021.Singh retired on 31 January 2016 after nearly four decades in the army, where he was deputy chief of Army Staff, and adjutant general and corps commander of strategic XV Corps that overlooks the Line of Control in Kashmir. He has also worked in border issues and counter-terrorism.

Lieutenant General Ananthanarayan Arun, PVSM, YSM, SM, VSM is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the Chief of Staff of the South Western Command, Jaipur. He previously served as the General Officer Commanding Dakshin Bharat Area. He earlier served as the officiating Commandant of the Officers Training Academy, Chennai.

Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari UYSM, AVSM, SM is a serving general officer in the Indian Army. He currently serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command. He assumed the post upon the superannuation of Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita. He previously served as the General officer commanding Uttar Bharat Area at Bareilly.
