The Saskatchewan Science Centre is an interactive science museum located in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is owned and operated as a not-for-profit charitable organization. Located in a former power plant in the Wascana Centre, the Saskatchewan Science Centre was officially opened in April 1989 as the Powerhouse of Discovery. In 1991 the Science Center was expanded with the addition of the Kramer IMAX Theater.

Principal activities and programming

The exhibit floor contains permanent displays, travelling exhibits, interactive demonstrations, and stage shows.

The Kramer IMAX Theater is the only IMAX theater in the city of Regina. The theater completed conversion to IMAX 3D in October, 2010. [1]

Educational and entertaining programs are delivered to students and communities all across Saskatchewan, [2] including remote through the Science Outreach program.

Special events at the centre include Adult Science Nights, [3] the Ignite! Festival, [4] the After Dark Film Series, [5] and Fantasy Food, [6] as well as attendance at public events such as Canada Day celebrations.

The Saskatchewan Science Centre permanent exhibits are the backbone of the Centre. [7] They are complemented by travelling and temporary exhibits, as well as occasional special programs run by the Centre. The Science Centre features various permanent displays highlighting different topics.

Critters!
Exhibit includes many live animals such as a bearded dragon, sugar glider, great horned owl, snakes, and salamanders.
Ukrainian Science Park
A free-access children's playground located outside the Science Center. Features playground structures demonstrating physics, such as pulleys and tunnels.
WILD! Saskatchewan
An interactive exhibit about the environment and environmental conservation.
Space Stadium Canada
The exhibit highlights and explores Canadian contributions to Space exploration. Features the gyro gym, a spinning device similar to one that was developed by NASA for astronaut training.
Richardson Ag-Grow-Land
The exhibit focuses on Saskatchewan’s contributions to the agriculture industry, as well as technologies and logistics common to modern industrial farming
Science of Hockey
An exhibit exploring hockey through a scientific lens. Features a game with a brainwave-controlled ball and several physical tests participants can compete in.

The Science Centre is affiliated with the Saskatchewan Museums Association and the Canadian Association of Science Centres.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History, in Atlanta, Georgia, is a museum that presents exhibitions and programming about natural history. Fernbank Museum has a number of permanent exhibitions and regularly hosts temporary exhibitions in its expansive facility, designed by Graham Gund Architects. Giants of the Mesozoic, on display in the atrium of Fernbank Museum, features a 123-foot (37 m) long Argentinosaurus, the largest dinosaur ever classified; as well as a Giganotosaurus. The permanent exhibition, A Walk Through Time in Georgia, tells the twofold story of Georgia's natural history and the development of the planet. Canora is a town, located at the junction of highways No. 5 and 9 in east central Saskatchewan, about 50 km north of Yorkton. It is centrally located on the corners of four adjacent rural municipalities, including the RM of Good Lake. The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center is a non-profit science center that promotes science learning through a variety of activities, including exhibits, Digital Dome movies, demonstrations, workshops and teacher professional development. Located in downtown Mobile, Alabama, Exploreum has several permanent galleries including Hands On Hall, the Wharf of Wonder, Curiosity Factory, and My BodyWorks - a health exhibit. The Exploreum also features interactive traveling exhibits, year-round with broad science content and supplementary, themed educational programming.

There are numerous heritages and cultural attractions in the province of Saskatchewan. Museums, dinosaur digs, aboriginal cultural and heritage sites, art galleries, professional sport venues, spas, handcraft, antique and tea shops, agricultural tours, theatre and archaeological sites comprise over 600 varied Saskatchewan institutions.

Risa Horowitz is a Canadian visual and media artist. Her works have been exhibited across Canada and internationally. Her work has been shown at Canada House in London, England, and is included in its permanent collection. She is currently an associate professor at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
