Saskatoon Co-operative Association Limited (commonly referred to as Saskatoon Co-op) is a retail cooperative. A member of Federated Co-operatives, it is headquartered in Saskatoon and has operations in the city and surrounding municipalities
Saskatoon Co-op, which achieved sales of $503 million in 2021, [1] operates six retail food stores, four wine, spirits and beer stores, two home centres, one agro centre, 13 gas bars/convenience stores, 7 car washes and one hybrid store in Colonsay. Alongside Saskatoon, it has operations in Watrous, Colonsay, Dalmeny, Hepburn, Martensville, Rosthern, Waldheim, and Warman. [2] The co-op has 109,000 members and 1,140 employees. [3]
In 2013, Saskatoon Co-op opened Saskatoon's first private liquor store, occupying 10,000 square feet at Blairmore centre. It is one of the biggest liquor stores in the city. [4] [5]
In 2017, the Saskatchewan Rush of the National Lacrosse League reached a five-year sponsorship deal with Saskatoon Co-op, under which the team's venue is referred to as "Co-op Field at SaskTel Centre" during its games. [6]
In November 2018, UFCW Local 1400 workers at Saskatoon Co-op went on strike over a proposed two-tier salary structure that would place newer employees on a lower pay grid. The union and Saskatoon Co-op reached an agreement in April 2019 that ended the strike. [7]
In February 2019, Hepburn Co-op amalgamated into Saskatoon Co-op, expanding its operations to include Dalmeny, Hepburn, Rosthern, and Waldheim. [2]

The MEC brand name, assets and store leases were purchased by the American private investment firm Kingswood Capital Management's subsidiary Mountain Equipment Company in October 2020. 1077 Holdings Co-operative remains active to deal with the remaining claims by creditors and will be wound up at some point in the future.

The British co-operative movement is most commonly associated with The Co-operative brand which has been adopted by several large consumers' co-operative societies; however, there are many thousands of registered co-operative businesses operating in the UK. Alongside these consumers' co-operatives, there exist many prominent agricultural co-operatives (621), co-operative housing providers (619), health and social care cooperatives (111), cooperative schools (834), retail co-operatives, co-operatively run community energy projects, football supporters' trusts, credit unions, and worker-owned businesses.

Southern Co-op is a regional consumer co-operative in the United Kingdom. The principal activities of the Society are food retailing and funerals. It operates over 200 convenience stores and 50 funeral homes, covering the southern English counties of Berkshire, Bristol, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex and Wiltshire. Southern Co-op society is owned by over 130,000 members who share in the business's profits and democratically control its operations. It was previously registered as an Industrial and Provident Society, but its status is now as a mutual society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014.
Midtown is a shopping mall in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, located in the Central Business District neighbourhood. The main anchor store is Hudson's Bay, with one vacant anchor last occupied by Sears and the shopping centre has a total store count of 154 stores. The mall was built on the former site of the city's main railway station as part of a major inner city redevelopment project in the 1960s that also saw construction of a freeway, the Senator Sid Buckwold Bridge, TCU Place - an arts-convention complex - and a new facility for the city's YMCA.
PCC Community Markets is a food cooperative based in Seattle, Washington. With over 58,000 members, it is the largest consumer-owned food cooperative in the United States. Both members and non-members may shop at the retail locations, but members receive certain discounts. The organization currently operates fifteen retail locations. Eight of the fifteen stores are located in Seattle. The West Seattle location reopened on October 2, 2019. The other seven are located in Issaquah, Kirkland, Burien, Bothell, Redmond, Edmonds and Bellevue.

Waldheim is located on Highway 312 in central Saskatchewan, the "Heart of the Old North-West". Northern Co-operative Society Limited, previously named Northern Co-operative Company Limited, was a local consumer co-operative trading in Aberdeen, Scotland, from 1861 to 1993. It operated supermarkets and other businesses throughout Aberdeenshire, and employed 2000 people in 1992.

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), operating as Co-op, is a co-operative federation providing procurement and distribution to member co-operatives in Western Canada. It was established in 1944 after a series of amalgamations of smaller cooperatives, starting in Saskatchewan, including the Saskatchewan Co-operative Wholesale Society and a fuel production and distribution co-op, the Consumers’ Co-operative Refinery Limited. Federated had expanded to Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia by 1970. Federated Co-operatives is owned by about 160 member co-operatives across the region. Some are large co-operatives, such as Saskatoon Co-op and Calgary Co-op, while others are small co-ops based in small towns, such as Abernethy Co-op.
Isaak Elias was an educator, merchant and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Rosthern from 1956 to 1960 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Social Credit member.
Safeway is a Canadian supermarket chain of 135 full service supermarket stores mostly operating in the western provinces in Canada. It was established in 1929 as a subsidiary of the American Safeway Inc., before being sold in 2013 to Canada's second-largest supermarket chain, Sobeys, a division of the conglomerate Empire Company. The Saskatchewan Rush are a professional box lacrosse team based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Formerly the Edmonton Rush, they are members of the Western Division of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and play their home games on Co-op Field at SaskTel Centre. The Rush have won the Champion's Cup twice since their move to Saskatchewan: their first season in 2016, and again in 2018.
