Satyajit Padhye (born May 5, 1983) is an Indian ventriloquist and puppeteer [1] carrying on the legacy of his father Ramdas Padhye and grandfather Y. K. Padhye. [2] He also trained Bollywood stars in the art of ventriloquism and how to use technology to create unique puppets for films. [3] [4] Satyajit also appeared on television reality shows and performed with Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. [5] [6] [7] Satyajit along with his father Ramdas Padhye designed India's first 3D printed puppet of Aditya Roy Kapur, for film Ludo and also trained Aditya who played a ventriloquist role in the movie. [8] [9] Satyajit also represented India at Rainforest World Puppetry Carnival in Sarawak, Malaysia and 5th China Quanzhou International Puppetry Festival in China. [10]

Early life

Satyajit Padhye was born on 5 May 1983 [11] to Ramdas Padhye and Aparna Padhye in Mumbai. Satyajit obtained a degree in Commerce from Podar College. [12] Satyajit became a Chartered Accountant in 2009 before pursuing the art of ventriloquism and puppetry as a career under his father Ramdas Padhye. [13] Satyajits married Rujuta Padhye, an animator and a painter. [14] [15]

Career

Satyajit started as an assistant puppeteer at the age of ten in Bharat Dabholkar's play Good Night Baby Dino. [16]

In 2009, Satyajit was a finalist of India's Got Talent aired on Colors Channel. [17] [18] Satyajit also performed on the television show Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 5. [19] [20]

In 2014, Satyajit performed on the reality show Big Boss 8 alongside Salman Khan. [21] [22]

Zapatlela 2 is a 2013 Indian Marathi-language horror comedy thriller film written and directed by Mahesh Kothare, produced by Adinath Kothare under the production banner of Kothare and Kothare Vision and distributed by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. Released in Maharashtra on 7 June 2013, the film stars Adinath Kothare, Sonalee Kulkarni, Mahesh Kothare, Makarand Anaspure, Sai Tamhankar, Madhu Kambikar, Vijay Chavan, Deepak Shirke and Dilip Prabhavalkar as the voiceover for the ventriloquist's puppet Tatya Vinchu created by ventriloquist and puppeteer Ramdas Padhye. The film is a sequel for the film Zapatlela (1993) released 20 years earlier and is marked to be first Marathi film shot entirely with a 3D camera. Mahesh Kothare had stated that if the film did well, it would be dubbed into Hindi and a third movie in the series could be made.

Released in Maharashtra on 16 April 1993, the film stars an ensemble cast of Mahesh Kothare, Laxmikant Berde, Kishori Ambiye, Pooja Pawar, Madhu Kambikar, Ravindra Berde, Jairam Kulkarni, Vijay Chavan, Raghavendra Kadkol, Bipin Varti and Dilip Prabhavalkar in a cameo appearance as well as the voiceover for the puppet Tatya Vinchu. OK Jaanu is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Shaad Ali, with screenplay and story based on Mani Ratnam's Tamil film O Kadhal Kanmani, and produced by Ratnam and Karan Johar under their banners Madras Talkies and Dharma Productions respectively. It is a remake of Ratnam's Tamil film O Kadhal Kanmani. The film stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor with a supporting cast including Naseeruddin Shah and Leela Samson, the latter of whom appeared in the original as well marking her Hindi debut with this too- who essay the protagonists' landlords. Kalank is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language period romantic drama film directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions and Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in association with Fox Star Studios as presenter and distributor. Set in the pre-independence British era, the film stars an ensemble cast of Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sanjay Dutt.

3 Dev is an unreleased Indian Hindi-language comedy film written and directed by Ankoosh Bhatt. The film stars Karan Singh Grover, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Ravi Dubey, Tisca Chopra and Raima Sen in the prominent roles while Prosenjit Chatterjee and Kay Kay Menon in the supportive roles. The film is produced by Chitan Rana of R2 Phillum Productions and cinematography for the film is handled by Soni Singh. The Bollywood musical duo Sajid–Wajid will compose and score music for the film.

It was premiered from 8 June 2020 airing Monday to Friday and stopped on 10 July 2020 completing 25 episodes. In this show, puppetry was done by Padhye family with various dolls and puppets.

Ramdas Padhye is an Indian ventriloquist, puppeteer and puppet maker. He has performed in India and abroad for five decades. Ramdas did his first TV debut in 1972 along with his puppet 'Ardhavatrao' when Doordarshan called him to do a 15-minute show.
