The US military has also been known to use this airport with C-130 Hercules airplanes supporting teams engaged in searching for remains of servicemen declared MIA in the Vietnam War. [2]

Savannakhet, officially named Kaysone Phomvihane ; since 2005 and previously known as Khanthaboury (ຄັນທະບູລີ), is a city in western Laos. It is the capital of Savannakhet Province. With a population of 125,760 (2018), it is the second-largest city in Laos, after Vientiane. Although the old French colonial quarter of the town, along the Mekong River-front, is depressed and crumbling, the town's proximity to Thailand's booming economy has brought about new commercial development in the northern part of the town, near both the river crossing and the bus terminal.

Wattay International Airport is one of the few international airports in Laos and the country's main international gateway, serving the capital Vientiane, located 3 km (2 mi) outside of the city centre in Sikhodtabong District, Vientiane Prefecture. The airport is operated by the Lao Airport Authority (LAA) and serves as a hub for Lao Skyway, Lao Central Airlines and Lao Airlines. The Lao Air Force also operates an installation at one end of the airport.

Lakhonepheng is a district (muang) of Salavan province in southern Laos. Lakhonepheng borders the districts of Khongxedone and Vapy in Salavan province to its south and east, Thapangthong and Songkhone districts in Savannakhet province to its north; it also borders the Mekong River which separates it from Ubom Ratcha province in Thailand in its west.

Rosales Airport is an airfield located in Rosales, Pangasinan, in the Philippines. It is listed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines for operation of rotary aircraft only. The airfield was constructed in October 1941, on the eve of the Japanese invasion of the Philippines, initially as a dirt landing strip. Before and after the occupation of Clark Air Base by the Japanese, Rosales acted as a secondary airfield for U.S. Air Force aircraft stationed there. Its gravel runway has a length of 1,043 metres (3,422 ft).

Vientiane is the capital and largest city of Laos. Comprising the five urban districts of Vientiane Prefecture, the city is located on the banks of the Mekong, right at the border with Thailand. Bueng Kan is a town municipality in Mueang Bueng Kan district, in Bueng Kan province, Isan. Major General Sourith Don Sasorith was a Royal Lao Government commanding officer during the Laotian Civil War. Appointed to command the Royal Lao Air Force on two occasions, he was also entrusted two other times with command of a Military Region. At the war's end in 1975, Sourith Don Sasorith was condemned to a communist re-education camp.

The 2016 Lao League is the 27th season of the Lao League, the top Laotian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1990. The season began on 26 March 2016, and is scheduled to conclude in late 2016.

Sikhottabong is a district of Vientiane Prefecture, Laos. The district contains Wattay International Airport, the busiest airport in Laos which began its operations in 1999. The area has also seen significant investment from Japan as a result of the airport.
