Scaly Bark Creek

Scaly Bark Creek is a stream in Johnson County in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] It is a tributary of Big Creek. [2]

The stream source is at 38°40′10″N94°00′59″W / 38.66944°N 94.01639°W / 38.66944; -94.01639 [1] approximately 1.5 miles north of the community of Medford. [3] The stream flows generally south-southwest to its confluence with Big Creek [2] at 38°35′42″N94°03′01″W / 38.59500°N 94.05028°W / 38.59500; -94.05028 . [1]

The creek was named for the condition of the bark of the hickory trees lining its course. [4]

The stream continues to the northeast and enters the Mississippi about one mile northwest of Clarksville. The confluence is at 39°22′44″N90°55′15″W and an elevation of 449 feet.
