Scissors For Lefty is an indie rock band based in San Francisco, California, USA. The band's first album, Bruno, was released in 2005 by Rough Trade Records (UK). [1]

Biography

Three of the band's members, Bryan Garza, Peter Krimmel and James Krimmel, met in San Luis Obispo while attending college, and later moved to San Francisco. The band consists of two sets of families : Bryan, Robby, Steve and Eric Garza, with Peter and James Krimmel.

Scissors For Lefty has released three full-length albums. The first, Bruno in 2005, was self-produced and released by the band. Underhanded Romance was released by Eenie Meenie Records on June 12, 2007, and on the iTunes Store on May 29, 2007. A 5-song EP, Consumption Junction, was released on October 24, 2008. The third full-length album, Bangs & Lashes, was released on iTunes on October 29, 2014. The video for the title track was released on May 6, 2013.

A local radio station, Live 105, chose the band to play on the main stage of its BFD 2007 festival, along with Bloc Party, Social Distortion, Queens of the Stone Age, Interpol and Kaiser Chiefs. Each year, Live 105 chooses a local band it thinks has a good chance to be successful, and givesit a chance to play to a much bigger audience. BFD was held at the Shoreline Amphitheater on June 9, 2007.

Scissors For Lefty has toured with Arctic Monkeys, The Smashing Pumpkins, Erasure, Fiery Furnaces, Dirty Pretty Things, The Matches, The 1990s, The Hedrons, Juliette and the Licks, Locksley, French Kicks, Fiery Furnaces and Metric.[ citation needed ]

The Ponys were an American indie rock/garage rock band from Chicago, Illinois, United States, formed by singer/guitarist Jered Gummere, in early 2001. Gummere was concurrently in the punk band, Guilty Pleasures, at the time of The Ponys’ formation. He eventually left to devote himself entirely to The Ponys. Gummere recruited members of the band, his first choice being girlfriend Melissa Elias whom he met while she was attending Illinois State University in his hometown. Together they experimented with indie/post-punk styles.

The Lovemakers (band)

The Lovemakers is an electropop/new wave band from Oakland, California. The band was formed in the spring of 2002 by Scott Blonde and Lisa Light who are the two core members. Light and Blonde met in 2002 via Blonde's manager, who Light was dating at the time. Shortly afterward Light left her boyfriend, and she began dating Blonde and joined his band Applesaucer. They were forced out of the band, reportedly for making out during practice. Afterward they formed their own band naming themselves The Lovemakers after the Japanese sexploitation film The Weird Lovemakers. They joined with Jason Proctor on keyboards to form the initial lineup.

Eleanor Friedberger American musician

Eleanor Friedberger is an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She is best known as one half of the indie rock duo The Fiery Furnaces, alongside her older brother Matthew Friedberger. In the band she contributes the majority of the vocals both on record and during their live performances.

Fighting Jacks are a melodic rock band from San Jose, California. The band formed in the fall of 2000 after their former bands broke up that past summer. The original lineup was Casey Linstrum, Cory Linstrum, Michael Hoppe (drums), and Mike Wright. The group, for the greater duration of its existence, was rather straightforward in their musical style; however, their best-known recording, "Suzy Creamcheese", exemplifies some of the odder aspects of psychedelia. The song was a regional hit and has since achieved favor among psychedelic music enthusiasts, who rediscovered the composition through several compilation albums.
