Scott Lewis (born June 2,1961) is an American politician from Kentucky. He is a Republican and represents District 14 in the State House. [1] He was first elected in 2018 when incumbent Matt Castlen retired to run for the Kentucky Senate.
Kentucky,officially the Commonwealth of Kentucky,is a landlocked state in the Southeastern region of the United States. Kentucky borders Illinois,Indiana,and Ohio to the north,West Virginia to the northeast,Virginia to the east,Tennessee to the south,and Missouri to the west. Its northern border is defined by the Ohio River. Its capital is Frankfort and its largest city is Louisville. As of 2020,the population was approximately 4.5 million.
Henry Clay Sr. was an American lawyer and statesman who represented Kentucky in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. He was the seventh House speaker as well as the ninth secretary of state. He unsuccessfully ran for president in the 1824,1832,and 1844 elections. He helped found both the National Republican Party and the Whig Party. For his role in defusing sectional crises,he earned the appellation of the "Great Compromiser" and was part of the "Great Triumvirate" of Congressmen,alongside fellow Whig Daniel Webster and Democrat John C. Calhoun.

Daniel Boone was an American pioneer and frontiersman whose exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United States. He became famous for his exploration and settlement of Kentucky,which was then beyond the western borders of the Thirteen Colonies. In 1775,Boone blazed the Wilderness Road through the Cumberland Gap and into Kentucky,in the face of resistance from American Indians,for whom the area was a traditional hunting ground. He founded Boonesborough,one of the first English-speaking settlements west of the Appalachian Mountains. By the end of the 18th century,more than 200,000 people had entered Kentucky by following the route marked by Boone.
John Cabell Breckinridge was an American lawyer,politician,and soldier. He represented Kentucky in both houses of Congress and became the 14th and youngest-ever vice president of the United States. Serving from 1857 to 1861,he took office at the age of 36. He was a member of the Democratic Party,and ran for president in 1860 as a Southern Democrat. He served in the U.S. Senate during the outbreak of the American Civil War,but was expelled after joining the Confederate Army. He was appointed Confederate Secretary of War in 1865.
John Griffin Carlisle was an American attorney and Democratic Party politician from Kentucky. He represented Kentucky in the United States House of Representatives from 1877 to 1890,serving as the 31st Speaker of the House from 1883 to 1889,and served in the United States Senate from 1890 to 1893. He served as the 41st Secretary of the Treasury,in the second administration of President Grover Cleveland,from 1893 to 1897—a period that included the Panic of 1893. As a Bourbon Democrat he was a leader of the conservative,pro-business wing of the party,along with Cleveland.
Kentucky Colonel is the highest title of honor bestowed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It is the most frequently awarded colonelcy in the United States. A Kentucky Colonel Commission is awarded in the name of the Commonwealth by the governor of Kentucky to individuals with "Honorable" titular style recognition preceding the names of civilians aged 18 or over,for noteworthy accomplishments,contributions to civil society,remarkable deeds,or outstanding service to the community,state,or a nation. The Governor bestows the honorable title with a colonelcy commission,by issuance of letters patent.
Linn Boyd was a prominent US politician of the 1840s and 1850s,and served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1851 to 1855. Boyd was elected to the House as a Jacksonian from Kentucky from 1835 to 1837 and again as a Democrat from 1839 to 1855,serving seven terms in the House. Boyd County,Kentucky is named in his honor.
Adolph Frederick Rupp was an American college basketball coach. He is ranked seventh in total victories by a men's NCAA Division I college coach,winning 876 games in 41 years of coaching at the University of Kentucky. Rupp is also second among all men's college coaches in all-time winning percentage (.822),trailing only Mark Few. Rupp was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on April 13,1969. Rupp played college basketball at Kansas under Phog Allen.
John Vincent Calipari is an American basketball coach who is the head coach at the University of Arkansas. He was the head coach at the University of Kentucky from 2009 until the end of the 2023–2024 season,which he led to one NCAA National Championship in 2012. He has been named Naismith College Coach of the Year three times,and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.
Frank Vernon Ramsey Jr. was an American professional basketball player and coach. A 6-3 forward/guard,he played his entire nine-year (1954–1964) NBA career with the Boston Celtics and played a major role in the early part of their dynasty,winning seven championships as part of the team. Ramsey was also a head coach for the Kentucky Colonels of the ABA during the 1970–1971 season. Ramsey was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982.
Kentucky was a southern border state of key importance in the American Civil War. It officially declared its neutrality at the beginning of the war,but after a failed attempt by Confederate General Leonidas Polk to take the state of Kentucky for the Confederacy,the legislature petitioned the Union Army for assistance. Though the Confederacy controlled more than half of Kentucky early in the war,after early 1862 Kentucky came largely under U.S. control. In the historiography of the Civil War,Kentucky is treated primarily as a southern border state,with special attention to the social divisions during the secession crisis,invasions and raids,internal violence,sporadic guerrilla warfare,federal-state relations,the ending of slavery,and the return of Confederate veterans.
The Kentucky Wildcats football program represents the University of Kentucky in the sport of American football. The Wildcats compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball program is the men's college basketball team of the University of Kentucky. It has eight NCAA championships,the best all-time winning percentage,and the most all-time victories. The Wildcats compete in the Southeastern Conference and are coached by Mark Pope.
In the United States,the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing,commonly known as the Triple Crown,is a series of horse races for three-year-old Thoroughbreds,consisting of the Kentucky Derby,Preakness Stakes,and Belmont Stakes. The three races were inaugurated in different years,the last being the Kentucky Derby in 1875. The Triple Crown Trophy,commissioned in 1950 but awarded to all previous winners as well as those after 1950,is awarded to a horse who wins all three races and is thereafter designated as a Triple Crown winner. The races are traditionally run in May and early June of each year,although global events have resulted in schedule adjustments,such as in 1945 and 2020.

Andrew Graham Beshear is an American attorney and politician who has served as the 63rd governor of Kentucky since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party,he is the son of former Governor Steve Beshear.
