Sean Julian Danielsen (born February 14, 1982) [3] is an American musician and artistic painter, [4] [5] [6] best known as the guitarist and lead vocalist of American rock bands Smile Empty Soul [2] and World Fire Brigade. [7] In addition to creating one studio album [8] and three independent extended play albums, [9] Danielsen has also collaborated on Noise Refinery (West One Music) compilation album Anger Management with former He Is Legend rhythm guitarist Mitchell Ray Marlow. History

Early years

As the son of Jerry Danielsen, recording artist [12] and owner of Busy Signal Studios, [13] Danielsen was born in California. In the three years leading up to his tenth birthday, [1] Danielsen lived in the midst of a desolate summer camp in Maine. [1] After performing in his first rock band at age 11, [2] Danielsen moved to California midway through his teens to live with his father. [14]

Music career

Smile Empty Soul

Shortly after moving across the country, Danielsen met percussionist Derek Gledhill and bassist Ryan Martin while attending neighboring high schools in Santa Clarita, California. It was through this partnership in 1998 [2] that alternative rock band Smile Empty Soul was formed. [15] Shortly after releasing their gold certified eponymous album [16] in early 2003, [17] Danielsen performed on and helped compose "My Father's Daughter", which was released as a track [18] on American rock vocalist Nina Storey's fifth studio album 24 Off the Board. [19]

World Fire Brigade

In 2009, [20] Danielsen formed rock band World Fire Brigade with Brett Scallions of American rock band Fuel. [7] After working with former Shinedown bassist Brad Stewart, the band recruited music producer Eddie Wohl to play keyboard for the band. On August 28, 2012, debut album Spreading My Wings , featuring Candiria percussionist Ken Schalk, in addition to guitarists Mike McCready and Rob Caggiano was released via FrostByte Media. Solo career

Enjoy the Process

On 16 April 2013, [26] [27] Danielsen released his first solo album, Enjoy the Process . [9] The EP, produced by Eddie Wohl, [28] featured six acoustic tracks. [9] The songs used on the album were described by the singer as delicate, low key songs that are best accompanied by light guitar and diverge from tunes typically performed by his first major label band. [29] After publishing the EP, PureGrainAudio.com released a free copy of "The Breaks", the first song on the album. [30]

Anger Management

Between the publishing of his first two albums, he worked with former He Is Legend guitarist Mitchell Ray Marlow on "Away" and "Best in You", two songs featured on Anger Management, a compilation album released on February 27, 2014, by West One Music. [31]

Food Chain (EP)

Danielsen's second solo album, entitled Food Chain , featured a full band and was recorded in Babylon Studios in Van Nuys, California. Released in November 2014, the album gave Danielsen more flexibility in the music he was able to play. [9] [32] [33]

During late 2014 [9] and early 2015, the vocalist toured the United States [34] [35] [36] [37] [38] [39] in support of his second EP. [40]

In September 2015, Danielsen stated that he plans to publish his next solo EP in late 2016. [41]

Product of Isolation

In October 2016, Danielsen posted on his Facebook page, that in January 2017, he planned to release Product of Isolation , his first full-length solo studio album. [42] Early the following month, the singer announced that 13 January 2017 is the planned release date for that work. [43]

Mind Control to Steal the Soul

In March 2017, the guitarist announced that he plans to release Mind Control to Steal the Soul , his third solo EP, some time in July of that year. [44] The following month, Danielsen announced the release date as well as potential song titles. [45]

The Best of Sean Danielsen Solo

In February 2019, the singer released a compilation album entitled The Best of Sean Danielsen Solo, [46] with The Best of Sean Danielsen Solo Material, Vol. 2 [47] arriving two months later. [48]

Personal life

In July 2013, he began selling his own paintings via Facebook. [6]

In June 2016, he married his long time partner, that he had been in a relationship with since 2005. [69]

For his entire music career, he has used Schecter electric and acoustic guitars. He also cited Jerry Cantrell and Kim Thayil as his favorite guitarists. [70] Sean recently has switched from Schecter to Dean and no longer uses Schecter. Sean is an official artist of Dean as per Dean's official website. [71]

Following the departure of Gledhill and Martin from the band in 2005 and 2017, respectively, Danielsen remains the only founding member still active as well as the band's primary songwriter, frontman, and leader.

He is best known for being the original lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the alternative rock band Fuel from 1993 to 2006 and then from 2010 to 2020. During that time, the band released four major-label albums including the double platinum Something Like Human. His initial stint with the band ended in February 2006. Scallions has been ranked in the Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists by Hit Parader (#50).

Anxiety is the second album by American post-grunge music group Smile Empty Soul. The album was scheduled to be released in the fall of 2005 via Lava Records, but after numerous push-backs due to heavy protest from religious groups the label scrapped the album and Smile Empty Soul departed. Smile Empty Soul then decided to make a number of "illegal burned copies" and sell them on their own at shows in order to give fans the album since Lava wasn't releasing it. The band even encouraged fans to go online and illegally download the album if they were not able to make it to a show to buy a copy.

Consciousness is the fourth full-length album by American post-grunge band Smile Empty Soul. It was released on August 25, 2009. "Don't Ever Leave" was chosen as the album's first single. <i>Hecklers Veto EP</i> 1999 EP by Hecklers Veto (Smile Empty Soul)

The American post-grunge band Smile Empty Soul was previously known as Hecklers Veto. During this time they released an eP titled Smile Empty Soul, copies of which were passed out at local rock shows by the band. One fan recalls receiving one at a local Papa Roach show. Quantities of the EP are very rare and only three copies are known to exist on CD, and one cassette version. The cassette version has completely different tracks from the CD version and was only produced by J. Danielsen, both sides of cassette are the same. The track length for the cassette version is unknown.

<i>Chemicals</i> (album) 2013 studio album by Smile Empty Soul

Chemicals is the sixth full-length album by American post-grunge band Smile Empty Soul. The album was released on October 1, 2013, and "finally [got] a proper European release" said Sean Danielsen. The album is also supposed to have a "half live feel and half studio feel" said Danielsen in an interview. The album cover is designed and painted by Sean, Ryan & Jake. On August 10, 2013 Smile Empty Soul announced their first single, "False Alarm". On October 21, 2013 Smile Empty Soul released a music video for "False Alarm", the video was filmed at the Machine Shop in Flint Michigan during "The Merican Chemicals Tour" & official CD release party for Chemicals.

It is the first and only album with new bassist Mark Young and drummer Victor Ribas. The singles from the album include "Sides" and "Stars", "Stars" is scheduled to have a music video released the same day of the single release. The music video for "Stars" premiered live on Alternative Press's Facebook Live on 4/13/18 as scheduled.

Sheep is the fourth EP by American post-grunge band Smile Empty Soul. It was announced on Facebook along with the album art teaser on August 24, 2019. During the recording process a couple of studio pictures were teased on Facebook of studio recordings. The band then announced on October 5, 2019, on Facebook the completion of Sheep and the final track listing.
