Servay Hypermarket (S) Sdn. Bhd. (doing business as Servay and Parkwell) is a hypermarket and retailer chain in Malaysia. It is one of the main existing retailer in East Malaysia, having over 30 branches (supermarket, hypermarket & convenient store) spread throughout Sabah and Sarawak. It was founded by Dato Sri Lai Kock Poh in 1990.

History

The company history dated back to the year 1979 when Evergreen Trading was set up. The first Servay Supermarket was established in 1990 [1] in Miri, Sarawak. Since then, more outlets were established to meet the increase demands from the public. The company expand their supermarket and hypermarket chain to Sabah in 1997. [1] At the moment, Servay have more outlets in Sabah than any other places.

Servay Express & Servay Mart

In 2018, Servay group have expanded their businesses from a full scale Hypermarket & supermarket to convenient stores. These stores are known as Servay Express & Servay Mart. Although Servay Express & Servay Mart shares the same concept of operating as convenient store, the difference between these two are their location. Whereby Servay Express operated in East Malaysia while Servay Mart operated in West Malaysia.

Servay Online.

Since the third quarter of 2019, Servay had expanded their business with the introduction of Servay online. At the moment, the service is only provided to customers in East Malaysia.

The Borneo Post, established in 1978, is the largest and widely circulated English-language daily newspaper in East Malaysia and also the alternately circulated newspaper in Brunei. The newspaper is the first English newspaper in East Malaysia to use photo-composition for type-setting and printing was done in offset as against the old-fashioned letterpress.

Tawau Airport is an airport located 15 nautical miles north east of Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia. It is one of two airports in Sabah with immigration counters for international flights, the other being Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Tawau Airport serves the districts of Tawau, Kunak and Semporna and is the nearest airport to the diving islands of Sipadan, Mabul and Kapalai, all of which are located in the latter district.

Federal Route 13, Asian Highway Route AH150, is a 268 km-long federal highway in Sabah, Malaysia. It is a component of the larger Pan Borneo Highway network. This highway runs primarily along the southeastern coast of Sabah from Sandakan to Tawau. The major towns it passes through include Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu and Kunak.

The Eastern Sabah Security Command(ESSCOM) is a Malaysian security area that covers 1,400 km of the east coast of Sabah from Kudat to Tawau. It was established by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib bin Abdul Razak and announced on 7 March 2013 by Musa Aman, the Sabah State Chief Minister. Its purpose is to strengthen maritime security in the eastern part of Sabah following the persistent attacks by pirates and militants in the southern Philippines especially after the 2013 Lahad Datu standoff, while at the same time ensuring that trade and business activity are not affected. The ESSCOM headquarters and main bases is at Lahad Datu.

The Kunak District is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Tawau Division which includes the districts of Kunak, Lahad Datu, Semporna and Tawau. The capital of the district is in Kunak Town. Kunak district were part of Lahad Datu before 1990.
