Shadowland is a six-part original limited series on Peacock. [1] [3] [4] Based on the reporting on conspiracy theories in United States politics from The Atlantic , [2] which posits that "conspiracy thinking" was in part responsible for the American Revolution and examined the rise of mainstream conspiracism, [5] the 2022 series travels the country to interview both conspiracy theorists and experts on the rise of conspiratorial thinking. [6] It was produced and spearheaded by renowned documentarian Joe Berlinger. [7] [8] [9]

Reception

The limited series received generally positive reviews from critics and audiences. [9] Time described it as "terrifying" and compared it favorably to the 2022 Ken Burns documentary miniseries The U.S. and the Holocaust . [10] Common Sense Media gave the series a positive review, writing that it was "disturbing". [11]

The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut. The perpetrator, Adam Lanza, fatally shot his mother before murdering 20 students and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and later committed suicide. A number of fringe figures have promoted conspiracy theories that doubt or dispute what occurred at Sandy Hook. Various conspiracy theorists have claimed, for example, that the massacre was actually orchestrated by the U.S. government as part of an elaborate plot to promote stricter gun control laws.

Europa: The Last Battle is a 2017 English-language Swedish ten-part neo-Nazi propaganda film directed, written and produced by Tobias Bratt, a Swedish far-right activist associated with the Nordic Resistance Movement, a European neo-Nazi movement. It promotes antisemitic conspiracy theories, including Holocaust denial, and has been promoted across multiple social media platforms.
