Dhaka, formerly known as Dacca, is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is the ninth-largest and seventh-most densely populated city in the world. Dhaka is a megacity, and has a population of 10.2 million residents as of 2022, and a population of over 22.4 million residents in Dhaka Metropolitan Area. It is widely considered to be the most densely populated built-up urban area in the world. Dhaka is the most important cultural, economic, and scientific hub of Eastern South Asia, as well as a major Muslim-majority city. Dhaka ranks third in South Asia and 39th in the world in terms of GDP. Lying on the Ganges Delta, it is bounded by the Buriganga, Turag, Dhaleshwari and Shitalakshya rivers. Dhaka is also the largest Bengali-speaking city in the world.
Dhaka District is a district in central Bangladesh, and is the densest district in the nation. It is a part of the Dhaka Division. Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and rests on the eastern banks of the Buriganga River which flows from the Turag to the southern part of the district. While Dhaka occupies only about a fifth of the area of Dhaka district, it is the economic, political and cultural centre of the district and the country. Dhaka District consists of Dhaka, Keraniganj, Nababganj, Dohar, Savar and Dhamrai upazila. Dhaka District is an administrative entity, and like many other cities, it does not cover the modern conurbation which is Greater Dhaka, which has spilled into neighbouring districts, nor does the conurbation cover the whole district, as there are rural areas within the district.
Baridhara is an upscale residential area in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is located on the east of and north east of Gulshan across Gulshan-Baridhara Lake. It has special zones designated for diplomats, and many of the city's foreign embassies and high commissions are situated here. There are mainly three areas diplomatic zone mainly in the south-west portion, general residential area in eastern portion and an adjacent DOHS area in north-east portion.
Gulshan is a thana situated in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is an affluent residential and business neighbourhood and is now home to a number of the city's restaurants, five star hotels, shopping centers, schools, banks, offices and members' clubs; it also hosts the majority of embassies and high commissions in Bangladesh. Many Bangladeshi and international companies have their offices in Gulshan.
Badda is a Thana of Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was formed in December 1998 from parts of Cantonment Thana and Gulshan Thana. Badda is adjacent to Rampura, Gulshan and Baridhara Thanas.
Kalyanpur is a place of Bangladesh, in Dhaka. It is a neighbour of Shyamoli. It is under Mirpur Thana, and it has a sub-post office under the Mohammadpur Exchange-1207. Ward no.11. It is on the Dhaka North City Corporation. This place is popular for inter-district bus counters.
Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) was the former self-governing corporation that was entrusted with the task of administering the municipal affairs of Dhaka. The incorporated area was divided into several wards. Each ward has an elected ward commissioner. The mayor of the city was elected by popular vote every five years, although the last mayoral election took place in 2002. The corporation was dissolved by the Local Government Amendment Bill 2011 on 29 November, passed in the Parliament of Bangladesh, and formally ceased to exist on 1 December 2011, following the President's approval, making way for a Dhaka North and a Dhaka South city corporations.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) or Dhaka Uttar City Corporation was created as an autonomous body that governs 54 northern wards of Dhaka to better manage local services, but has since added new areas. It is one of two municipal corporations in Dhaka, the other being Dhaka South City Corporation. Annisul Huq was the first mayor of the Dhaka North City Corporation, after being elected in April 2015. Md. Atiqul Islam is the current mayor of DNCC since 7 March 2019. The area was 82.69 km2 until 2017 when it underwent expansion to 197 km2. Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) published Population and Housing Census 2022 with 5,979,537 people residing in it, for average density of 30,353 people per km2.
Hatirjheel is a lakefront in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before 2009, It was a slum area that had been transformed into a recreation area as well as an alternate way to ease traffic congestion.
Barishal City Corporation is a self-governed municipal administration in Bangladesh that administers and oversees development and maintenance works in the city of Barisal. The corporation covers an area of over 58 square kilometers in the Barisal district where over five million people live as permanent residents. The body was known as Barisal Municipality previously, until it obtained the city corporation status by a ministry of local government declaration on 25 July 2002.
Banani is an upscale residential and commercial neighbourhood and a thana of Dhaka, often considered a part of the neighbouring Gulshan area. It hosts up-scale hotels, restaurants, shops, luxury apartments, schools, and the offices of many local and multinational companies. Banani is considered an important central business district. Its business scene holds increasing importance compared to areas like Mohakhali, Bashundhara, Uttara, Kawran Bazar, Tejgaon and Mirpur. Banani's commercial landscape is the third most important after the nearby financial district of Gulshan Avenue; and downtown Motijheel, the nation's largest and most important CBD.
Gulshan Lake is a lake in Dhaka, Bangladesh, that borders Gulshan Thana, Niketan, Badda, Shahjadpur and Baridhara Diplomatic Zone.
Rampura Thana is a police administrative area (thana) of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It encloses parts of Banasree residential area and Dhaka North City Corporation wards 22 and 23. The major thoroughfare DIT Road passes through this area and connects it to Badda, Ramna & Motijheel thanas.

Niketan or Niketon also known as Niketan Residential Area, Gulshan or Niketan Housing Society is a residential neighbourhood in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Niketan is also a part of Gulshan Thana and Ward No. 20 of Dhaka North City Corporation.
