Shanzu is a suburb of Mombasa, Kenya. Shanzu is located in Mombasa, off the Mombasa-Malindi highway. Shanzu Beach has a number of popular hotels, bars and restaurants and is within easy reach of Mombasa, Bamburi, Nyali and Mtwapa. [1] The streets are mostly lined with small scale businesses that are the major economic activity.
Shanzu Teachers college remains the most popular attraction for this suburb.

Fort Jesus is a fort located on Mombasa Island. Designed by Italian Giovanni Battista Cairati, it was built between 1593 and 1596 by order of King Felipe II of Castille, who also reigned as King Filipe I of Portugal and the Algarves, to guard the Old Port of Mombasa. Fort Jesus was the only fort maintained by the Portuguese on the Swahili coast, and is recognised as a testament to the first successful attempt by a Western power to establish influence over the Indian Ocean trade.

Globe Star was a cargo ship that ran aground on 27 April 1973 along Nyali Reef, just off Mombasa, Kenya. It was carrying 10,000 tons of wheat bound for Karachi, Pakistan. Despite an intensive salvage operation, the vessel broke in half and was abandoned. In November 1973, five personnel involved in a salvage attempt died in hold No. 3 due to gas poisoning while conducting diving operations. In 1978, the wreck was demolished by Divecon Ltd, Mombasa, leaving the main engine visible and the remains of the ship less than 10 feet (3.0 m) below the surface.
The 2007 IAAF World Cross Country Championships took place on March 24, 2007. The races were held at the Mombasa Golf Course in Mombasa, Kenya. Four races took place, one for men, women, junior men and junior women respectively. All races encompassed both individual and team competition. The short race for men and women that was run between 1998 and 2006 was scrapped and the World Cross Country Championships went back to one-day format. Reports of the event were given in the Herald, and for the IAAF.

German submarine U-967 was a Type VIIC/41 U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. Her keel was laid down on 16 May 1942 by Blohm & Voss of Hamburg, Germany. She was commissioned on 11 March 1943 with Oberleutnant zur See Herbert Loeder in command. U-967 commanded by Korvettenkapitän Albrecht Brandi on 5 May 1944 torpedoed USS Fechteler in the Western Mediterranean that was sailing with convoy GUS-38.

The Mombasa tusks, also referred to as Mapemba ya Ndovu or Pembe za Ndovu, form a monument over Moi Avenue, a major thoroughfare in Mombasa, Kenya. Built in the 1950s to commemorate visits by the British royal family, the monument originally comprised two wooden structures resembling tusks; nowadays, there are four aluminium tusks in an M shape. The monument is under the jurisdiction of the National Museums of Kenya in addition to the city's municipal government.
