Shattered Sun is an American metalcore band from Alice, Texas, [2] formed in July 2005.
Originally formed in July 2005 by Daniel Trejo and Sebastian Ortiz. Bassist Steven King, drummer Nick Garcia and vocalist Clem Galindo were added later that year. Later, Ortiz, Galindo and Nick Garcia would be replaced by Steven Garcia, Rudy Leal and Marcos Leal in 2006. They put out their first EP "The Lost Cause" in December 2006. In 2007, Steven Garcia left the band and was replaced with drummer Robert Garza. In August, they went to record with Ken Susi and put out "Endless Struggle". In 2009, Rudy Leal and King left the band. Also, they recorded another EP "Through Ashes" late 2009. Garza left in 2010, which led the band to be on hiatus. Marcos Leal went on to join Caldera, which included Joseph Guajardo and Hector Villareal. While Trejo took time off from the band, Garza returned in December 2010 and talks about starting the band up again was in play. In early 2011, Shattered Sun officially reformed in 2011 with the joining of Guajardo, Villareal and Henry Garza. They went on to record "Confessions" EP with producer Robert Beltran at Precision Studios in 2011. They soon made a video for their song "Any Means" and that is when things took off for the band. [3] After the release of Confessions on March 31, 2012 [4] the band played heavily promote it including an early 2012 tour with Memories In Broken Glass, [5] immediately followed by a tour with Spineshank and Mureau. In late 2013, Shattered Sun began working on their first full-length album, Hope Within Hatred. [7] It was also the departure of guitarist Villareal, who left to pursue a stable oilfield job. Trejo then took main guitar duties, but he wanted a lead guitarist. Jessie Santos heard about a slot opening and came to try out with the band, mid-recording their new album. Once the band got Trejo's approval, Santos was soon in. His first recording was the solo on "The Ultimatum." In early 2014, the band signed with Breaking Bands LLC, a management team run by Jon Zazula and Chuck Billy of Testament. [7] [8] [9]
On February 5 of 2015, Shattered Sun announced they had been signed to Victory Records, along with the April 21 release date for their debut full length Hope within Hatred, and a lyric video for the title track from the album. [10] Just two days later the band announced via social media they would be playing the 2015 New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. [11] On February 17'th they announced that they would be touring North America with Testament and Exodus. [12]
On April 14, 2015, it was announced that Shattered Sun would be playing the entirety of the 2015 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, performing on the Victory Records stage. [13]
Shattered Sun accompanied Soulfly on their 2015 We Sold Our Souls To Metal tour. Soilwork also joined the tour. The tour was scheduled for a 27-concert trek that started on September 30 and ended in Albuquerque, NM on October 30. [14] [15] [16] [17]
In late 2015, rhythm guitarist Daniel Trejo departed Shattered Sun, which left the band without any founding members.[ citation needed ]
In 2019 Shattered Sun released a new single and music video for “Shades of Melodie” and announced; "While SHATTERED SUN are in the midst of preparing for the release of their new, currently-untitled album, many aspects of recording and other requirements still need to be completed. As the band is currently working independently and without label assistance, they’ve turned to their dedicated fans to contribute to the finalization process with new album pre-orders and bundle purchases. 100% of these funds will go towards the completion and release of the album, We are currently in the process of finishing our new album, as well as shopping for a new label home. We have decided not to wait – we’re ready to share our new single with all of you and introduce you to a new era of SHATTERED SUN."[ citation needed ]
In March 2020 shattered Sun announced that they have signed with Hammerforged Records it will be releasing a new album in late 2020, they also released the first single "Until It Breaks" available on all streaming platforms and music video on YouTube.[ citation needed ]
In 2021 vocalist Marcos Leal officially announced that he is doing vocals for Ill Nino while still being active in Shattered Sun and does vocals for both bands, until he left Shattered Sun on May 25, 2022. On the same day, Drew Gonzales takes over as the band's new lead singer.
Kreator is a German thrash metal band from Essen, formed in 1982. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Miland "Mille" Petrozza, drummer Jürgen "Ventor" Reil, lead guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö, and bassist Frédéric Leclercq. The band's lineup has changed multiple times throughout its 42-year career, most noticeably with their bassists and lead guitarists. Petrozza and Reil are the only two original members left in Kreator, although the latter took a break from the band from 1994 to 1996. Yli-Sirniö has been the lead guitarist of Kreator since 2001, while Leclercq joined in 2019 as the replacement of Christian "Speesy" Giesler, who had been a member of the band since 1994.
Soulfly is an American heavy metal band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1997. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. To date the band has released twelve studio albums, one tour EP, twenty-three singles, one video album, and twelve music videos. Their debut album, Soulfly, was released on April 21, 1998, while their most recent album, Totem, was released on August 5, 2022.
Soilwork is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Helsingborg. They are signed to Nuclear Blast. Formed in late 1995 by Björn Strid and Peter Wichers, originally under the name Inferior Breed, the band changed their name in late 1996 to Soilwork.
Omnium Gatherum is a six-piece melodic death metal band from Finland, founded in the autumn of 1996. Although the band mainly follows the path of the melodic death metal genre, much of their work shows strong influences from progressive metal, especially their later albums. Their music is influenced by Gothenburg-style bands such as At the Gates, In Flames, Dissection, Dark Tranquillity, but also Iron Maiden, Death, Anathema and Megadeth among others.
Nailbomb was a heavy metal band formed in 1994 as a side project by Brazilian musician Max Cavalera of Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly, and British musician Alex Newport of Fudge Tunnel. They played a combination of primarily industrial metal and thrash metal. The band recorded one studio album, Point Blank, and played a warmup live performance and their last ever performance at the 1995 Dynamo Open Air Festival two days later, after which the band disbanded.
Dino Cazares is an American musician, best known as the guitarist and one of the co-founders of heavy metal band Fear Factory. He is also a co-founder of Divine Heresy, Asesino, and Brujeria. Cazares popularized the use of digital amp modelling processors, as well as the use of seven and eight-string guitars in metal music.

Xentrix are an English thrash metal band from Preston, Lancashire. The band were formed in 1984 under the name Sweet Vengeance. They changed their name to Xentrix in 1988, and released four albums – Shattered Existence (1989), For Whose Advantage? (1990), Kin (1992) and Scourge (1996) – before splitting up in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005–2006, Xentrix reunited once again in 2013, and they have since released two more albums: Bury the Pain (2019) and Seven Words (2022). As part of the underground metal scene of the late 1980s and early-to-mid 1990s, Xentrix have been referred to as one of the "big four" of English thrash metal, along with Acid Reign, Onslaught and Sabbat.

The Fifth is an American hard rock band from Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States. Formed and founded by vocalist Roy Cathey and the original line up which consisted of guitarist Dave "DC" Garcia, bassist Bernie "b-man" Mangiboyat, and drummer Rob Lee. As Blood Runs Black is an American metalcore/deathcore band hailing from Los Angeles, California. They have released three albums. Their first album, Allegiance, was released on June 6, 2006. Their second album, Instinct, was released on March 15, 2011. Instinct reached #1 on the US Billboard Heatseakers Albums chart and #111 on the US Billboard 200 for the week of April 2, 2011. On June 30, 2013, As Blood Runs Black announced that they would be self-releasing their newest album, Ground Zero, with the help of crowdfunding via IndieGoGo; this was successful and the album was released on October 27, 2014.

The band is known for being led by brothers Igor Amadeus and Zyon Cavalera, both sons of former Sepultura and current Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera. The band released one album, Dreams and Visions in 2016, and has been inactive since 2018.
