Shooter, [1] originally titled as Sukha Kahlon [2] is a 2022 Indian Punjabi-language action film directed by Dilsher Singh and Khushpal Singh. It is based on the life of Indian gangster Sukha Kahlon. [3] [4]

Release

The film was scheduled to be released on 21 February 2020; however, it was banned in Punjab by Capt. Amarinder Singh, then Chief Minister of Punjab, for allegedly promoting violence. [5] Also, the film was banned in Haryana on 21 August 2021, again for allegedly promoting violence. Banning of the film got divided opinions from Punjabi cinema. [6] It was finally released theatrically on 14 January 2022. [7]

Captain Amarinder Singh, is an Indian politician, military historian, former royal and Indian Army veteran who served as the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. A former Member of the Legislative Assembly, Punjab and Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, he was also the president of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. In the same year he released the song "Game" featuring Sidhu Moose Wala. The song has been viewed over 147 million on YouTube as of May 2023.
