Shyam Nandan Sahay CIE was an Indian landlord, educationist, legislator and the founder vice chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University. [1] Born in the Indian state of Bihar, he also served as the vice chancellor of Patna University. [2] He was a member of the 1st Lok Sabha, elected from Muzaffarpur Central constituency on Indian National Congress candidature. [3] He won from Muzaffarpur again in 1957 but died in the same year. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1957, for his contributions to education. [4] A road in Muzaffarpur is named after him.[ citation needed ]

Rao Bahadur and Rai Bahadur, abbreviatedR.B., was a title of honour bestowed during British rule in India to individuals for outstanding service or acts of public welfare to the Empire. Ramavriksha Benipuri was a freedom fighter, Socialist Leader editor and Hindi writer. He was born in a small village named Benipur in Muzaffarpur district in a Bhumihar Brahmin family in the Indian state of Bihar. He had spent nine years in prison for fighting for India's independence. He was the founder of Bihar Socialist Party in 1931 and Congress Socialist Party in 1934. He served as the president of Patna District Congress Committee of Indian National Congress from 1935 to 1937 during the 1937 Indian provincial elections. He was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (India) from Katra North in 1957. In 1958, he was elected as the Syndicate Member of Bihar University, Muzaffarpur.

Madhav Sadashiv Gore (1921–2010) was an Indian social scientist, writer, academic and the chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. He was the Director of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), the vice-chancellor of the University of Mumbai and a recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award of Indian Sociological Society.

Dukhan Ram (1899–1990) was an Indian ophthalmologist, academic, legislator and the vice chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University. He was the principal of Patna Medical College, one of the oldest medical colleges in India, and the president of Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, a satellite organization of Arya Samaj, founded by Dayanand Saraswati. He successfully contested the 1962 Bihar Legislative Assembly election from Sasaram constituency, on Indian National Congress candidature and served as the president of All India Ophthalmological Society in 1961. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1962, for his contributions to medical science.

Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav College, Bettiah also known as R.L.S.Y College Bettiah is a degree college in Bihar, India. It is an affiliated unit of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University. The college offers Senior secondary education and Undergraduate degree in arts, science and conducts some vocational courses.
