Simon Sears (born 25 January 1984) is a Danish actor.

Early life and education

Sears was born in Roskilde to an Italian father and Danish mother. He was raised in the town of Solrød Strand, and has two older siblings.

When he was younger, Sears was interested in dance, training at the Solrød Centre and performing at Bella Centeret and dance championships. [1] As his father grew up financially unstable due to his grandfather being a painter, Sears explored a few careers options before settling on theatre. He briefly moved to Hjørring before going on to train at the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen, graduating in 2014. [2] [3]

Career

In 2015, Sears had stage roles in Koks i kulissen, Cabaret , and Ødipus Laboratoriet at the Royal Danish Theatre and Visen om sidsel at Grønnegårds Teatret. [4] [5] He starred in his first feature-length film 9. April alongside Pilou Asbæk. The following year, he received the prestigious Reumert Talent Prize for his role in the 2016 production of Sidst på dagen er vi alle mennesker at the Betty Nansen Teatret with company Mammutteatret. [6] He made his television debut with a recurring role in DR series Follow the Money (Danish : Bedrag). [3]

Sears starred in 2017 film Winter Brothers  (Danish : Vinterbrødre), earning him nominations at the Bodil Awards and Robert Awards. [7] [8] He began starring in the main role of Christian in DR series Ride Upon the Storm  (Danish : Herrens Veje), a role for which he is a two-time Robert Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Television Role nominee. He also won best actor at the Italian Digital Fiction Festival. [9] [10]

Sears starred in the 2020 Danish thriller Shorta. [11] In October 2019, it was announced he would play Ivan in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone , an adaptation of overlapping fantasy book series Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. [12] The series premiered in 2021.

Personal life

Sears lives in Copenhagen with his Icelandic wife, Ingibjörg Skúladóttir, and their two sons. [13] Their first son, Skúli Leví, was born the same day Sears won his Reumert Prize in 2016. Their second was born in 2019. [14]

The Alternative is a green political party in Denmark. The party was publicly launched on 27 November 2013 by former Minister of Culture Uffe Elbæk and Josephine Fock; Elbæk had been a parliamentarian for the Social Liberal Party. The Reumert Award is an annual Danish awards ceremony to recognize excellence in theatre achievements in Denmark. The award was founded by the Bikuben Foundation in 1998, and has been handed annually since then. There are 16 award categories as well as 10 talent awards. A jury of ten specialists in theatre selects the recipients, who receive a statuette and a prize. As of 2016, the recipients also receive an amount of money. The recipients of the Reumert Award of Honour receive DKK 200,000, the recipients of the Talent Prize receive DKK 35,000 and all other categories-recipients receive DKK 40,000. The Reumert prize is named after the Danish actor Poul Reumert (1883–1968).

Maria Lucia Heiberg Rosenberg is a Danish singer and musical-performer. She became famous when she won a record contract with the label EMI in the TV 2-program Popstars in 2003. Her debut single "Taking Back My Heart" (2004) was no. 1 on hitlisten. The album That's Just Me sold 22.0000 copies.

Christian Lollike is a Danish playwright, theater director and artistic director of Sort/Hvid in Copenhagen. Lollike is working with stage and installation art in theaters, public areas and virtual platforms. He has made theater, film, musicvideo, opera, dance and art interventions. He often uses current political events in his work.

Cecilie Maria Stenspil is a Danish actress. She graduated from the School of Acting at Odense Teater in 2006.

Lars Boje Mathiesen is a Danish politician who, since March 2023, has been an independent member of the Danish Parliament, the Folketing. From February until March 2023, he succeeded Pernille Vermund as leader of the Nye Borgerlige political party, for which he was elected a member of the Folketing at the 2019 general election and again at the 2022 general election. However, he was dismissed and expelled from the party only the following month after disputes over remuneration and campaign finances.
