Single File was a band from Westminster, Colorado / Cleveland, Ohio. After achieving local success, the band was signed to Reprise Records in 2006.

History

The group started out originally as a swing jazz trio when its members were in high school, though members Sloan Anderson and Chris Depew had been playing together since middle school. [1] Their first EP, As You Were was self-released in 2005, followed by two further EPs, Heartbreak & Masturbation with Ray Salazar ondrums (2006) and My Best Defense (2007). [2] The band established itself in the local Los Angeles music scene and began to draw attention from local A&R reps. Ray Salazar left the band after Heartbreak & Masturbation to pursue other musical endeavors. After that they promoted several national tours in 2005 and 2006, including touring with the Vans Warped Tour [3] [4] as well as scoring regular airplay on Denver radio station KTCL with the song "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" (named after the video game of the same name), which became a local hit. [1] Single File were also named one of MySpace's Top 10 Unsigned Bands in 2006. [3]

In early 2006 Single File recorded their debut full-length, which was tentatively titled Benson Shady Grove, with producer Ed Rose (who has worked with such bands as Motion City Soundtrack, The Get Up Kids, Senses Fail, Emery, Reggie and the Full Effect, The Spill Canvas, and The New Amsterdams). However, instead of releasing the full-length, the band put the project on hiatus and continued touring. [4] In July 2008, they released an iTunes-exclusive EP, No More Sadface, on Reprise Records instead, which hit No. 43 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. [5] Upon releasing the EP, the group opened for The Fray on several tour dates in America. [6] [7] Following this, the group opened for Saves the Day on their US tour. [8]

Their debut full-length was retitled Common Struggles [9] (former titles include Young Goodman Brown: A Book of Short Stories and Benson Shady Grove), [1] was produced by Howard Benson, [8] and was slated for release on Reprise in 2008. [1] The album's release date was later changed to April 7, 2009. [10]

The band has since toured with artists like Alkaline Trio, Plain White Tees, [11] and even made it to the United Kingdom for Reading Festival in 2009. [12]

Sloan is a Canadian rock band based in Toronto and originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Sloan have released twelve full-length albums and have received nine Juno Award nominations, winning one. Between 1996 and 2016, Sloan was among the top 75 best-selling Canadian artists in Canada and among the top 25 best-selling Canadian bands in Canada. The band is known for their sharing of songwriting and lead vocals from each member of the group and their unaltered line-up throughout their career.

Fenix TX is an American pop punk band. The band originally formed as Riverfenix in 1995 in Houston, Texas. They released an EP, G.B.O.H., and an album, Riverfenix, on independent record labels, before having to change their name due to a cease and desist order from the estate of actor River Phoenix. Following the change of name, they signed with major label MCA Records in 1999. On MCA, they released two further albums, 1999's Fenix TX and 2001's Lechuza, which collectively sold over 600,000 units, prior to breaking up in 2002 over creative differences.

The Fray is an American rock band from Denver, Colorado. Formed in 2002 by schoolmates Isaac Slade and Joe King. Their debut album, How to Save a Life released in 2005, was certified double platinum by the RIAA and platinum in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Their first single, "Over My Head ", became a top ten hit in the United States. Their second single, "How to Save a Life", charted in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 and was a top 5 single in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

The Junior Varsity is an American alternative rock band from Springfield, Illinois.

Race the Fray were an Australian independent four-piece alternative rock, pop punk band formed in 2003. The line-up consisted of Alister "Mac" Murrell on drums; Callum "Cal" Reeves on bass guitar; Nicholas "Astro" Russo on vocals and guitar; and Andrew "Swifty" Swift on guitar. In November 2004 they issued their debut self-titled extended play, The Fray, they followed with a second EP, This Art Will Play, under Race the Fray, in September 2005. In 2007 Karl Russo replaced Swift on guitar and the group disbanded in 2008.

Rock Kills Kid was an American art punk/alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California that consisted of Jeff Tucker, Shawn Dailey (bass), Sean Stopnik (guitar), Reed Calhoun (keyboards/vocals), and Mike Balboa (drums). Their music often drew comparisons to The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, Duran Duran, Modern English and U2, as well as new bands such as The Killers and Franz Ferdinand. They were named one of Rolling Stone magazine's "10 Artists to Watch in 2006". The group disbanded in 2010, ending their short-lived career.

It Prevails is an American five-piece metalcore band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2004. The band is influenced by melodic metalcore and classic rock, including Shai Hulud, Twelve Tribes, Strongarm, Lifetime and Hot Water Music. A premium was placed on lyrics related to struggles of the human condition and altruistic actions.
