The University of Bath is a public research university in Bath,England. It received its royal charter in 1966,along with a number of other institutions following the Robbins Report. Like the University of Bristol and University of the West of England,Bath can trace its roots to the Merchant Venturers' Technical College,established in Bristol as a school in 1595 by the Society of Merchant Venturers. The university's main campus is located on Claverton Down,a site overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath,and was purpose-built,constructed from 1964 in the modernist style of the time.

Sir John Antony Hood is a New Zealand businessman and administrator. He was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford from 5 October 2004 until 30 September 2009. He was the first Vice-Chancellor to be elected from outside Oxford's academic body in 900 years,and the first to have addressed the scholars' congregation via a webcast. In March 2007 New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark awarded him the World Class New Zealand supreme award to honour his contribution to profiling New Zealand and New Zealanders internationally. On 15 November 2007 he announced that he would not seek an extension to his five-year term as Vice Chancellor,and that he would leave Oxford in September 2009.
Rhodes University is a public research university located in Makhanda (Grahamstown) in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It is one of four universities in the province. Established in 1904,Rhodes University is the province's oldest university,and it is the sixth oldest South African university in continuous operation,being preceded by the University of the Free State (1904),University of Witwatersrand (1896),University of South Africa (1873) as the University of the Cape of Good Hope,Stellenbosch University (1866) and the University of Cape Town (1829). Rhodes was founded in 1904 as Rhodes University College,named after Cecil Rhodes,through a grant from the Rhodes Trust. It became a constituent college of the University of South Africa in 1918 before becoming an independent university in 1951.
The University of Wales,Newport,was a university based in Newport,South Wales,before the merger that formed the University of South Wales in April 2013. The university had two campuses in Newport,Caerleon on the northern outskirts of the city,which was subsequently closed during July 2016,and a £35 million campus on the east bank of the River Usk in Newport city centre which opened in 2011. Rhodes Must Fall was a protest movement that began on 9 March 2015,originally directed against a statue at the University of Cape Town (UCT) that commemorates Cecil Rhodes. The campaign for the statue's removal received global attention and led to a wider movement to "decolonise" education across South Africa. On 9 April 2015,following a UCT Council vote the previous night,the statue was removed.
#FeesMustFall was a student-led protest movement that began in mid-October 2015 in South Africa. The goals of the movement were to stop increases in student fees as well as to increase government funding of universities. Protests started at the University of Witwatersrand and spread to the University of Cape Town and Rhodes University before rapidly spreading to other universities across the country. Although initially enjoying significant public support the protest movement started to lose public sympathy when the protests started turning violent.

Vuyani Pambo is a South African politician and former student activist. He has represented the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the National Assembly since May 2019 and serves as the head of the EFF presidency. He rose to political prominence as a leader of the Fees Must Fall movement at the University of the Witwatersrand,where he was the head of the EFF Student Command. A member of the EFF Central Command since December 2019,he also served as the party's national spokesperson between February 2020 and February 2022.
