Ski Butternut, also known as Butternut Basin, is a ski resort in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, located on Warner Mountain in The Berkshires.

Channing and Jane Murdock took control of the area in 1963, naming the area Butternut Basin after the large groves of butternut trees located in the basin of the mountain. Family friends of the Murdocks', the Kennedys visited Butternut. [ failed verification ] [3] [4]

The mountain currently features 22 trails, ten ski lifts, two terrain parks, a tubing area, and a PSIA-affiliated ski school. Ski Butternut now features 3 quad lifts. In the off-season, the mountain hosts a number of summer concerts and festivals, including the annual Berkshires Arts Festival. The hours are Monday - Friday 9 AM - 4 PM, and 8:15 AM - 4 PM Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.

Ski Butternut also offers tubing in the winter.

Ski Sundown is a ski area located in New Hartford, Connecticut. There are 16 trails, 15 of which are lighted for nighttime skiing. In terms of difficulty, eight of the trails are easier, four are intermediate and three are difficult and one is most difficult. Popular trails include Tom's Treat, which winds its way down the mountain for one mile and includes a mini terrain park (1.6 km), and Gunbarrel, a steep pitch straight down the fall line which offers free NASTAR as well as CISC-sponsored races. The ski area features two terrain parks, the easier on Tom's Treat, and an expert terrain park on the black diamond run Stinger. When there is enough snow, the mountain seeds moguls on the Exhibition and Gunbarrel trails. Catamount Ski Area is a ski resort located on Mount Fray of the Taconic Mountains in Hillsdale, New York and South Egremont, Massachusetts. Catamount is one of three ski areas in the southern Berkshires; the others are Butternut in Great Barrington, and Otis Ridge in Otis. Activities offered include mountain biking, and alpine skiing, snow tubing, and skating during winter months. The facility is managed by the Wheelhouse Bike Shop and the non-profit Arrowhead Recreation Club.

Tenney Mountain Ski Resort is a ski area in Plymouth, New Hampshire, located on Tenney Mountain. It closed in 2010 after operating for 45 years, but reopened for ski operations in March 2018. It closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 and did not operate during the 2020–21 or 2021–22 seasons, while allowing backcountry access. It reopened in February 2023.

Holiday Valley Resort, known more commonly as just Holiday Valley, is a family-oriented vacation spot and ski resort in Ellicottville, New York. Established in 1957 by Nelson Pauly, John Fisher and Bill Northrup, the facility opened with four runs and one T-bar lift. Currently the resort contains 60 slopes and 13 lifts. Since its opening Holiday Valley has experienced steady growth and has become the main tourist attraction in Cattaraugus County. In 1995 the Inn at Holiday Valley opened, turning the slope into a self-contained ski resort.

Plattekill Mountain is a privately owned and operated ski and bike resort northwest of Catskill Park in the town of Roxbury, New York. It features a vertical drop of 1,100 feet with 38 trails of varying degrees of difficulty.

Otis Ridge is a ski area located in Otis, Massachusetts in southeastern Berkshire County about 6 miles east of Great Barrington. It first opened in 1946 with two surface lifts and a single trail and continues to operate to this day, currently with one double chair and three surface lifts: a pony tow, a handle tow, and a T-bar. The mountain is presently owned by Ski Butternut, who acquired it in 2016 to save the historic ski area from foreclosure. Otis is known for their historically renowned racing program.
