RCA/Jive Label Group was a short-lived American record label group, owned by Sony Music Entertainment and representing the merger of the RCA Music Group and JIVE Label Group. The umbrella group was formed in 2007 under the name BMG Label Group, was rebranded as RCA/Jive Label Group in 2009. In July 2011 it was finally dissolved into two separate labels: the RCA Music Group and Epic Records which took Jive subsidiaries until October 2011 when it retired Jive Records along with Arista Records and J Records. Music Video Comp Reel is a public access cable TV series based in Los Angeles that features music videos, behind the scenes and interviews for popular hip hop, rock, and pop music artists. The first edition of Music Video Comp Reel aired in Los Angeles on July 18, 2005 at 3:00pm on Adelphia featuring the band U2. This showing highlighted videos of their album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb which included "Vertigo" and "Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own".
Kawan Kawmi "KP" Prather is an American record executive. He began his career as a DJ for the Atlanta-based hip hop group Parental Advisory (P.A.) in 1991, which were part of the larger collective Dungeon Family. The group was discovered by Pebbles and L.A. Reid and were the first act from the collective to sign earn a major label deal with LaFace Records, through which he launched his own subsidiary imprint Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment by the late 1990s. During this time, he worked heavily in executive or A&R positions on albums for LaFace labelmates TLC, OutKast, Goodie Mob, Usher, Pink, and Toni Braxton. Prather's label imprint would soon sign hip hop duo YoungBloodZ and rapper T.I., and release both artists' respective debut albums: Against da Grain (1999) and I'm Serious (2001). In 2009, Prather was appointed "Senior Vice President of A&R" at Island Def Jam, to where he signed 15-year-old R&B singer Khalil. Ghet-O-Vision also inked a joint venture deal with Interscope Records to sign Alabama based-rapper Yelawolf in 2008. As of 2024, he is "Head of Music" at Pharrell Williams' creative umbrella I Am Other.
RCA Music Group was an umbrella group of labels distributed by Sony Music Entertainment that existed between March 2004 and 2009, and for a short period of time between July 2011 and October 2011 as all RCA Music Group labels were merged with RCA Records.
LaFace Records was an American record label based in Atlanta, Georgia, that operated as a unit of Sony Music Entertainment from 2008 to 2011 and was historically a part of Bertelsmann Music Group from 1989 to 2004. It was most active and achieved its greatest commercial success during the 1990s, dealing largely in the field of urban music. It was originally distributed by its co-creator Arista Records from 1989 through 2001, after which it was shuttered and absorbed into Arista. In 2004, the label was rebooted, and it began operating through Jive Records until both were absorbed into RCA Records in 2011. Today, the label's back catalog and reissues are managed by Legacy Recordings.
Lisa Ellis is an American businessperson and financier. Starting her career in management roles at the Pepsi-Cola Company, Reebok International, and Sony Music's Columbia Records, in 2003 she became Sony Music's vice president of strategic marketing and music licensing. She became president of Sony Urban Music in 2005 and executive vice president of Sony Music Label Group in 2006. She then became an operating partner at the investment firm Fireman Capital Partners in 2009, also serving on the board of directors for several Fireman portfolio companies. Ellis currently operates Box Three Eight Eight Management and is the managing partner of Provenance Ventures, a holding company for Provenance Media and Provenance Films. From 2006 until 2009 she was named to Billboard's “Most Powerful [20] Women In Music” list, ranking 3 in 2006 and 2007.
