The South Alabama Jaguars softball team represents the University of South Alabama in NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in the Sun Belt Conference. The Jaguars are currently led by eighteenth-year head coach Becky Clark, a position she's held since the program started in 2007. The team plays its home games at Jaguar Field located on the outskirts of the university's campus. [2]

The South Alabama Jaguars represent the University of South Alabama in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics. The South Alabama Jaguars men's basketball program has competed in the Sun Belt Conference since 1978 when the league was formed. Since 1968, the Jaguars have compiled an overall record of 694–507 (.580). South Alabama has won the Sun Belt Conference championship five times and reached the NCAA tournament eight times. The Jaguars last NCAA tournament appearance was in 2008.

The South Alabama Jaguars football program, established in 2009, represents the University of South Alabama in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. South Alabama joined the FBS in 2012 as a member of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC).

The Alabama Crimson Tide softball team represents the University of Alabama in NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It is currently led by head coach Patrick Murphy and assistant coaches Lance McMahon and Kayla Braud. The team plays its home games at the Rhoads Stadium located on the university's campus. The Alabama Crimson Tide softball team won its first national championship in 2012, after they defeated the Oklahoma Sooners in the championship series of the Women's College World Series.

The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2009 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

They finished the season 14–18, 7–11 in Sun Belt play to finish in ninth place. They lost in the first round of the Sun Belt tournament to Coastal Carolina.
