The Special Reserve Force is a division with in the Namibian Police Force. Primarily its role is a police tactical unit based on the Special Task Force of the South African Police Service. The unit was a reserve unit within Special Field Force then led by the late Ret Comm Danger Ashipala. They were first called Special Task Force in the early 90 but were disbanded in 96. They reemerged in the late 90 early 2000 and thus were called Reserve Force.

Roles

They are trained to deal with special operations, riots, terrorism and search and rescue. The division is now in command of Dep/ Comm Sakaria who took over from now regional commander Comm Van Der Byl. [1]

Training and Operations

Training for the SRF is the toughest in the Namibian Police. Upon successfully completing the selection course the candidate is than tasked with a 6-week basic training which includes, shooting hostage negotiations, counter terrorism and riot control. upon the completion of the training the new member can wear the black beret and SRF badge. [2] The unit has a close working relationship with the Air Wing directorate of the Police force as tactical movement and deployment can be via helicopter insertion including fast roping. Operators in the Directorate can also go for a parachute selection to become para qualified. Members can also be qualified divers. [3]

South African Police

The South African Police (SAP) was the national police force and law enforcement agency in South Africa from 1913 to 1994; it was the de facto police force in the territory of South West Africa (Namibia) from 1939 to 1981. After South Africa's transition to majority rule in 1994, the SAP was reorganised into the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The State Protection Group (SPG) is part of the Counter Terrorism & Special Tactics Command of the New South Wales Police Force and was established in 1991 to deal with extraordinary policing responses. The SPG directly supports police in high-risk incidents such as sieges with specialised tactical, negotiation, intelligence and command-support services. The unit also provides rescue and bomb disposal support, canine policing, and armoury services.

Police Tactical Unit (Hong Kong) Military unit

The Police Tactical Unit is a unit within the Hong Kong Police Force which provides an immediate manpower reserve for use in large-scale emergencies. Unit companies are attached to all land Regions and are available for internal security, crowd control, anti-crime operations, disaster response and riot control throughout Hong Kong. The special forces of the Australian Defence Force are units of Special Operations Command and associated units of the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force that conduct and or support special operations to advance and protect the national security of the Commonwealth of Australia. The special forces of Australia have a lineage to a variety of units raised in the Second World War such as the Independent and Commando Companies, Z Special Unit, Navy Beach Commandos, and the Coastwatchers. Australian special forces have most recently been deployed to Iraq in Operation Okra as the Special Operations Task Group, as the Special Operations Task Group in Afghanistan, in Afghanistan in support of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service and regularly for counter-terrorism pre-deploy to locations of major domestic events throughout Australia in readiness to support law enforcement such as the 2014 G20 Brisbane summit.

Mobile Brigade Corps

The Mobile Brigade Corps abbreviated Brimob is the special operations, paramilitary, and tactical unit of the Indonesian National Police (Polri). It is one of the oldest existing units within Polri. Some of its main duties are counter-terrorism, riot control, high-risk law enforcement where the use of firearms are present, search and rescue, hostage rescue, and bomb disposal operations. The Mobile Brigade Corps is a large component of the Indonesian National Police trained for counter-separatist and counter-insurgency duties, often in conjunction with military operations.

Special Services Wing Military unit

The Pakistan Air Force Special Service Wing is a special operations forces who specialised in all aspects of air-to-ground communication, including air traffic control, fire support, and command, control, and communications in covert, forward, counterterrorism, or austere environments. Their functionality is similar to American Air Combat Control Team of the United States Air Force and they are often assigned individually or as a team to Army Special Service Group, Army Rangers, Navy Special Service Group, and special tactics units of the Pakistan Marines to provide expert airfield seizure, airstrike control, and communications capabilities.

Reinforced Regional Task Force, prior to 2015 officially known as Piketen is a regional special operations asset of the Swedish Police Authority, similar to SWAT type units in the United States. RRTF is called upon when situations occur that are too dangerous for ordinary police to handle such as hostage situations, serving high-risk arrest warrants and confronting armed criminals. RRTF units are based in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.

The Reaction Unit was a counter-terrorist force within the South African Police (SAP) from 1979 to 2001, in support of the SAP Special Task Force. Strategic Plans Division Force Pakistani military agency responsible for nuclear weapons management

Strategic Plans Division Force or is Pakistan's agency responsible for protection of its tactical and strategic nuclear weapons stockpile and the strategic assets. It is the security branch of the National Command Authority (NCA), the department currently has 300 nuclear stockpiles and many strategic and tactical delivery systems ( missiles), for target acquisition reconnaissance and surveillance BeiDou satellite navigation system and many UAVs and UCAVs are used. SPD Force has a two star general as its DG and is under direct command of Strategic Plans Division.

The Special and Elite Forces include both a specially and higher trained unit and a small percentage of personnel from a specific Malaysian military branch, law enforcement or government agency. In Malaysia, the term 'Special Forces' is widely used by uniformed services for special forces, special operations forces and 'special' trained units while 'Elite Forces' for units that more trained and capable combat. Regular personnel must undertake specialized and higher training to be able to join the units of the 'Special and Elite Forces'. These 'Special and Elite Forces' are denoted by different beret colours, shoulder tabs, unit patches, skill badges and uniforms.
