Spinach 1 is a 1973 album composed,produced and performed by Giorgio Moroder and Michael Holm under the moniker "Spinach".

His work with synthesizers had a large influence on several music genres such as hi-NRG,Italo disco,synth-pop,new wave,house and techno music.

Moroder had been asked to score the film,and Cara and Forsey wrote most of the lyrics after they were shown the last scene from it in which the main character dances at an audition for a group of judges. They felt that the dancer's ambition to succeed could act as a metaphor for achieving any dream a person has and wrote lyrics that described what it feels like when music inspires someone to dance. The song wound up being used for the scene they watched as well as during the opening credits as the main character is shown working as a welder.

Although his first appearance in the hit parade was in 1962,he had his first big hit in 1969. "Mendocino",the German adaptation of a song by the Sir Douglas Quintet,was the biggest selling single that year in (Germany). The record was released in September 1969,reached number three for five weeks,selling over a million copies. Ariola presented him with a gold record in October 1970.
