"Stand by U" is South Korean pop group Tohoshinki's twenty-eighth Japanese language single. "Stand by U" was released on July 1, 2009 by their label Rhythm Zone and was released in two formats: CD and CD+DVD. The track serves as the final single promoted by the group as a five-piece, following which legal troubles caused the group to go on an extended hiatus.

Background

Shortly after the release of their twenty-seventh Japanese language single, "Share the World/We Are!", news about the group recording the single started to surfaced online. [1] [2]

Chart performance

Upon the release of the single in Japan, it took the number two spot on the Oricon daily chart selling over 94,800 copies. [3] [4] On July 5, 2009 daily chart the single peaked at the number-one spot selling nearly 29,300 copies. [5] On the issue date of July 13, 2009, "Stand by U" debuted at number two on the Oricon weekly chart behind pop boy band Arashi's "Everything"; selling a little more than 182,060 copies. [6] [7]

Music video

Like their twenty-third Japanese single, "Dōshite Kimi o Suki ni Natte Shimattandarō?", two music videos were shot for "Stand by U": drama version and version with Tohoshinki's members. Both videos were shot by Hideaki Sunaga (須永秀明, Sunaga Hideaki) and the video features the members in a hotel. [8] [9] As the song was used as the theme song for Japanese mobile drama Sweet Room, the music video features the characters of the first story Last Love starring Narimiya Hiroki as the male lead and Yukari Shiomi as the female lead.

Live performance

On June 20, 2009, Tohoshinki appeared on Music Fair and performed "Stand by U" as well as "Sky". [10] They also appeared on other shows such as NHK Save the Future 2009, Music Station and Music Japan, performing "Stand by U". [10] [11] [12]

"Mirotic" is a song by South Korean boy band TVXQ. It was released in South Korea via SM Entertainment as part of the group's eponymous fourth studio album on September 26, 2008. In Japan, it was released as a CD single titled "Jumon: Mirotic" through Rhythm Zone on October 15, 2008, where it served as one of the several lead singles for the group's fourth Japanese studio album Secret Code (2009). The Korean lyrics was written by Yoo Young-jin, with Japanese lyrics translated by Ryoji Sonoda, whilst music was handled by Yoo, Mikkel Sigvardt, Lucas Secon and Thomas Troelsen.

XV is the tenth Japanese studio album by South Korean pop duo Tohoshinki, released on October 16, 2019 by Avex Trax. XV (fifteen) denotes Tohoshinki's fifteenth debut anniversary in Japan. The duo announced the album's release at the A-Nation Music Festival, which they headlined, on August 18, 2019. XV was released in five physical versions: a standard CD version, a limited CD and Blu-ray version, a limited CD and DVD version, an exclusive fan club version, and a special "gift" version with a CD packaged in two different LP-size slips. Musically, XV is a varied electropop album that is influenced by a broad range of electronic musical genres, including influences from symphonic metal, soft rock, hip hop, dance-pop, and R&B. Recording for the album began shortly before the launch of their Japanese studio album Tomorrow in 2018.
