Standing in the Way of Control is the third studio album by American indie rock band Gossip, which was released on January 24, 2006. The album was produced by Guy Picciotto and Ryan Hadlock It reached number 1 on the UK indie chart [13] and also reached Gold status in the United Kingdom. [14]

Irish Times described Beth Ditto's performance on the album as "a compelling combination of Brenda Lee, Dolly Parton and Siouxsie Sioux." [15] Describing the title track, journalist Kevin Courtney noted that it was a "barnstorming indie-electro-disco stomper". [15]

The title track also serves as the unofficial theme song to the British teen drama Skins , as its use in the DVD menu and promotional material led viewers to associate it with the series.[ citation needed ] It is also featured on the show's soundtrack album.

The remix by Le Tigre was released in 2005, the original was then released as a single in 2006, and was re-released again on February 26, 2007. The 2006 issue had climbed up to number 13 on the UK Singles Chart in early 2007 on download sales, but the 2007 re-release was under a new catalogue number, meaning that their six-place climb to number seven on March 4 was listed as a new entry rather than as a climber. But it reached the top spot in the UK Indie Chart for one week.

"Listen Up!" is a song by American indie rock band Gossip, released in July 2006 from their third studio album, Standing in the Way of Control (2006). It was re-released in 2007, peaking at number 39 on the UK Singles Chart during this second run.
