Star Wheel Press is a Scottish indie/folk/pop band from Aberfeldy, Scotland. It was formed in 2010 when the guitarist and banjo player Craig Milton met the singer and lyricist Ryan Hannigan at a gig by the Edinburgh indie pop band Aberfeldy in the town after which it is named.

The band released an album in 2011, Life Cycle of a Falling Bird, which was that year's biggest selling album in the Avalanche Records shop [1] in Edinburgh after extensive patronage by the shop's management and the renowned crime novelist Ian Rankin. [2]

Airplay and press coverage

The band's first radio airplay was by Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music with other DJs on the station and a number of presenters on BBC Radio Scotland such as Vic Galloway, Ricky Ross and Tom Morton also playing it.

Media coverage has been led by Radar, the new music blog of The Scotsman newspaper which has covered them on several occasions, [3] with others such as Is This Music? [4] and God is in the TV [5] also reviewing them.

Print coverage includes The Spectator [6] and the Daily Record . [7]

Live shows

Live performances include the Southern Fried Festival in Perth with Samantha Crain, support slots with The Blind Boys of Alabama, Lyle Lovett, the 2011 Aberfeldy Festival alongside James Yorkston and Admiral Fallow and a headline show at the Wee Red Bar in Edinburgh Students Union in September 2011 with support from French Wives.

Shop Assistants were a Scottish indie pop band from Edinburgh, Scotland, formed in 1984, initially as 'Buba & The Shop Assistants'. After achieving success with independent releases they signed to Chrysalis Records sublabel Blue Guitar, releasing their only album in 1986. After splitting in 1987, with singer Alex Taylor moving on to The Motorcycle Boy, they reformed for two further singles in 1990.

Vic Galloway British DJ (born 1972)

Michael "Vic" Galloway is a DJ on BBC Radio Scotland. Galloway presents a self-titled show on Radio Scotland every Monday from 9 pm to 11 pm and also the BBC Introducing Scotland Thursday evenings/Friday mornings from 11 pm to 1 am. He presented BBC Scotland's T in the Park television coverage every summer.

Keser Musical artist

Keser are a Scottish band from Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland. Keser are signed to UK indie label Alex Tronic Records, and have released three albums to date, Esoteric Escape, Robo Ghost and Audeamus. The first two albums were recorded at the Alex Tronic Records studio, with label manager and record producer Paul Croan, who also releases music as artist Alex Tronic. Audeamus was recorded at Keser's studio in Glasgow, Hidden Channel.

Fred were a five-piece Irish Indie band from Cork. They released four albums, the last of which, Leaving My Empire, was released in 2011.

Zoom Records was a short-lived record label established in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was founded and funded by the successful music shop owner Bruce Findlay in the summer of 1977. After the first four single releases it secured a licensing deal with Arista Records. Findlay closed the label in 1980, to dedicate his time to managing one of the most successful bands who began there, Simple Minds.

Kid Canaveral

Kid Canaveral was a Scottish alternative pop band that formed in St Andrews in Fife, Scotland, but are now based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Since 2007 the band have released a number of well received singles, an E.P. and an album on their own label, Straight to Video Records, and in 2011 they signed with Scottish independent label Fence Records. The band left Fence Records to join Johnny Lynch on his new label Lost Map Records in August 2013. The band have received praise for their pop hooks and melodies, and their energetic and engaging live performances. Their second record Now That You Are a Dancer was nominated for the 2014 Scottish Album of the Year Award. The group released their third record Faulty Inner Dialogue, via Lost Map Records, on 29 July 2016.

Rory and the Island

Rory and The Island has had 10 top 40 songs in the Irish iTunes rock charts, with "Jimmy's Winning Matches" breaking through to the actual overall Irish top 10 in October 2012. Lead singer Rory Gallagher was the bass player and lead vocalist with Irish Indie/Pop/Punk group 'The Revs' from 2000 to 2007.
