Baldwin ran for a full term in 2018 and was unopposed in the Democratic primary. [9] Baldwin faced his former colleague, Republican Delegate George Ambler in the November general election, [10] who he beat 53-47%. [11] [12]

Baldwin ran for reelection in 2022, running unopposed in the Democratic primary. In the general election, Baldwin faced former West Virginia State Trooper Vince Deeds and Independent Candidate Aaron Ransom and lost to Deeds 38-59%. [14] [15]

Carmichael was also a candidate for Governor of West Virginia in the 2011 West Virginia gubernatorial special election. As President of the state Senate from January 2017 to January 2021, he held the title Lieutenant Governor of West Virginia. After his defeat in 2020, Governor Jim Justice appointed Carmichael as West Virginia's economic development director.

Robert D. Beach is an American politician and a Democratic member of the West Virginia State Senate representing District 13 since January 2011. Beach served consecutively in the West Virginia Legislature's House of Delegates from January 2001 until January 2011, and non-consecutively from his May 1998 appointment to fill the vacancy caused by the passing of his father, the late Delegate Robert C. William Ramsey Laird IV is an American politician and a former Democratic member of the West Virginia Senate representing District 10 from 2013 until 2017. Laird served consecutively from January 2009 until January 2013 in the District 11 seat, and served non-consecutively in the West Virginia Legislature from January 1997 until January 2001 in the West Virginia House of Delegates in a District 29 seat. Laird is the son of former United States Senator William Laird III.

William Michael Hall is an American politician and Chief of Staff to the Governor of West Virginia Jim Justice. He previously was a Republican member of the West Virginia Senate representing District 4 between 2006 and 2017. Hall served six terms in the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 14th district. In 2012, Hall was nominated by the Republican Party as its nominee for the office of West Virginia State Treasurer. He was defeated in the general election by incumbent State Treasurer John Perdue.

Mike Woelfel is a Democratic member of the West Virginia Senate representing the 5th district. The 5th district includes all of Cabell County and a small portion of northern Wayne County. In 2022, Woelfel was chosen as Minority Leader of the Senate.

Mike Romano is an American politician and former Democratic member of the West Virginia Senate, having representing the 12th district from 2014 to 2022. Prior to his election to the Senate, Romano was a county commissioner in Harrison County. In 2022, Romano retired from the Senate to run for Harrison County commissioner again, but was defeated by incumbent David Hinkle.
