Presbyterianpolity is a method of church governance typified by the rule of assemblies of presbyters,or elders. Each local church is governed by a body of elected elders usually called the session or consistory,though other terms,such as church board,may apply. Groups of local churches are governed by a higher assembly of elders known as the presbytery or classis;presbyteries can be grouped into a synod,and presbyteries and synods nationwide often join together in a general assembly. Responsibility for conduct of church services is reserved to an ordained minister or pastor known as a teaching elder,or a minister of the word and sacrament.
The Uniting Church in Australia (UCA) was founded on 22 June 1977,when most congregations of the Methodist Church of Australasia,about two-thirds of the Presbyterian Church of Australia and almost all the churches of the Congregational Union of Australia united under the Basis of Union. There are around 2,000 UCA congregations,and 2001 National Church Life Survey (NCLS) research indicated that average weekly attendance was about 10 per cent of census figures.

The Caledon Bay crisis,refers to a series of killings at Caledon Bay in the Northern Territory of Australia during 1932–34,referred to in the press of the day as Caledon Bay murder(s). Shortly afterwards,two white men went missing on Woodah Island (with one body found later). Yolngu Boy is based around three Aboriginal teenage boys linked by ceremony,kinship and a common dream-to become great Yolngu hunters,in a remote community at Yirrkala in North-East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. The feature film traces the metaphorical journey of the three young Aboriginal teenagers caught in a collision between the modern world and traditional Aboriginal culture where they hunt wild animals in the morning using spears and play football while listening to hip hop rap music in the afternoon. The project involved a significant number of community members in the cast and crew of the film.
Rev. Gregor Sutherland Henderson is an ordained Christian minister of the Uniting Church in Australia. For 12 years he was the General Secretary of the UCA's National Assembly and was the President of the National Assembly for three years 2006-2009.

She served on the joint committee that planned the merger of the Congregationalist,Methodist and Presbyterian churches that formed the Uniting Church in Australia in 1977. She was appointed an Officer of Order of the British Empire in 1977,for her service to the church.
