Studenten Techniek In Politiek (STIP, "Technology Students In Politics") is a local political party in the Netherlands.
STIP was founded in 1993 and is run exclusively by students. The members of STIP rotate their seats after one year in municipal council (instead of the regular term of four years) to combine their elected position with their studies. STIP is a unique democratic example of student involvement in local politics. First elected in 1994, STIP had steadily grown its representation on the municipal council.
After the election victory in 1998 STIP was invited to join the ruling coalition and get a seat on the executive council (College van Burgemeester en Wethouders). Since then they have consistently remained part of the ruling coalition. Currently their representative on the executive council is deputy mayor Bas Vollebregt. STIP is the only student party in the Netherlands with a representation on the local executive council.
STIP has no clearly defined political ideology and self-describes itself as pragmatic. However its raison d'être is improving the relationship between students and 'regular' citizens of Delft in general, and specifically improving the relationship between the Delft University of Technology and the City of Delft. Their platform calls for investments in sustainability, local high tech start-ups and cultural activities. [1] STIP is not affiliated with a national political party. In the last years STIP has been part of local majority coalitions together with the PvdA, VVD, GroenLinks and D66.
In many student cities there are conflicts between the 'regular' population of the city and the student population. Often this conflict remains unresolved partly because of under-representation of students within official representative organs such as the municipal council. The concept of a student party as a way to increase student representation in local government was named as one of the best case practices to increase student friendliness of European cities. [2]
Overwhelmingly the electorate of STIP consists of students, concentrated in the old city centre of Delft and the campus of the Delft University of Technology.

The politics of the Netherlands take place within the framework of a parliamentary representative democracy. A constitutional monarchy, the country is organised as a decentralised unitary state. The Netherlands can be described as a consociational state. Dutch politics and governance are characterised by a common striving for broad consensus on important issues, within both of the political community and society as a whole.
The Delft University of Technology is the oldest and largest Dutch public technical university, located in Delft, Netherlands. As of 2022, it is ranked by QS World University Rankings among the top 10 Engineering and Technology universities in the world. In 2023, it was ranked 2nd in the world in civil engineering, 3rd in the world in mechanical and aerospace engineering, and 3rd in the world in architecture.
A students' union or student union, also known by many other names, is a student organization present in many colleges, universities, and high schools. In higher education, the students' union is often accorded its own building on the campus, dedicated to social, organizational activities, representation, and academic support of the membership.
Elections in the Netherlands are held for five territorial levels of government: the European Union, the state, the twelve Provinces, the 21 water boards and the 342 municipalities. Apart from elections, referendums were also held occasionally, but have been removed from the law in 2018. Liberalism in the Netherlands started as an anti-monarchical effort spearheaded by the Dutch statesman Thorbecke, who almost single-handedly wrote the 1848 Constitution of the Netherlands that turned the country into a constitutional monarchy.
The Free-thinking Democratic League was a progressive liberal political party in the Netherlands. Established in 1901, it played a relatively large role in Dutch politics, supplying one Prime Minister, Wim Schermerhorn. The League is a predecessor of two of the major Dutch political parties, the conservative liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the social democratic Labour Party (PvdA). The social liberal Democrats 66 also claims that it and the VDB are ideologically connected.

The municipality's territory covers the city of Amsterdam as well as a number of small towns. The city of Amsterdam is also part of several functional forms of regional government. These include the Waterschap of Amstel, Gooi en Vecht, which is responsible for water management, and the Stadsregio of Amsterdam, which has responsibilities in the areas of spatial planning and public transport.
The Dutch National Students Association is one of two national representations and spokesman of students in the Netherlands at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, VSNU, Association of Higher Professional Education, DUO, etc. The purpose of ISO is to improve the quality of higher education, protection of students' interests and representation of 688.000 students in higher education.
Petrus Josephus Mattheus "Piet" Aalberse Sr. was a Dutch politician of the General League of Roman Catholic Caucuses, later the Roman Catholic State Party (RKSP) and later co-founder of the Catholic People's Party (KVP) and jurist. He was granted the honorary title of Minister of State on 31 December 1934.

Municipal politics in the Netherlands is an important aspect of the politics of the Netherlands. Student en Stad is a local political party in Groningen in the Netherlands. Founded in November 1993, it is one of just a few student political parties that have been able to win seats in Dutch local elections, with other similar and successful examples being Studenten Techniek In Politiek in Delft and Student & Starter in Utrecht. The party currently holds one seat on the Groningen municipal council.
Connect Wageningen is a local political party in the city of Wageningen. It was founded in 2017 by Mark Reijerman, a former councillor for the Stadspartij Wageningen. The aim of Connect Wageningen is to represent young people, students and internationals in Wageningen, which is home to the Wageningen University and Research (WUR).
Julius Huibert Terpstra is a Dutch politician, who served as a member of the House of Representatives in the years 2020–21. He is a member of the political party Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA). He had served as duoraadslid in the Leiden municipal council and as chair of Christian Democratic Youth Appeal, CDA's youth organization. Following his membership of the House, Terpstra returned to Leiden politics and became alderman for construction following the 2022 municipal elections, having been his party's lead candidate.

Thomas Justinus Arnout Marie de Bruijn is a Dutch diplomat, civil servant and politician who served as Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation in the third Rutte cabinet from 10 August 2021 to 10 January 2022. He is a member of the social-liberal Democrats 66 (D66) party.
Hatta Hannelore "Hatte" van der Woude is a Dutch politician who has represented the conservative-liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) in the House of Representatives since 2021. She started her career in Vietnam and Singapore and later worked for The Hague University of Applied Sciences as a researcher, lecturer and policy advisor. Van der Woude was politically active in Delft's municipal council (2012–2016) and as an alderwoman in the city's municipal executive (2018–2021) prior to being elected to the House of Representatives in the 2021 general election.
LEF – For the New Generation, also known simply as LEF, is a political party in the Netherlands focused on youth interests. The party participated in the 2023 House of Representatives elections with Daniël van Duijn as lead candidate, but was unable to win a seat.
