As of 2011 Sukhmohinder Singh Sandhu was senior superintendent of Indian Police Services (IPS) in the state of Punjab. Sandhu served in important positions during the terrorism days in Punjab. He is considered to be a close ally of ADGP Sumedh Singh Saini.
Sandhu is the only officer in the history of the Indian Police Service (IPS) to be called back from retirement and promoted to IPS from Punjab Police Services.[ citation needed ]
Early in 1992, an unsuccessful assassination attempt was made on him by terrorists in Ludhiana using a bomb.
Along with ADGP Saini and two other Punjab police officers, Sandhu was charged in the kidnapping, illegal detention and disappearance of two businessmen and their driver. [1] The victims were allegedly picked up by the police and then disappeared. This case is pending in the court and the CBI is investigating. [2] [3]

Kanwar Pal Singh Gill was an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. He served twice as DGP for the state of Punjab, India, where he is credited with having brought the Punjab insurgency under control. While many see him as a hero, there are accusations that he and the forces under his command were responsible for multiple cases of human rights violation "in the name of stamping out terrorism." He was also convicted in a sexual harassment case. Gill retired from the IPS in 1995.

Preneet Kaur is an Indian politician who served in the Government of India as a Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2009 to 2014. She is married to Amarinder Singh, who was the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. She joined the Congress party, to which her husband also belonged once, and contested parliamentary elections repeatedly from the Patiala constituency. In February 2023, she was suspended from party for supporting BJP leader and her husband Amarinder Singh. She won the elections of 1999, 2004 and 2009, but lost her seat in the elections of 2014 and made a comeback by winning again in 2019.

Dr. Vikram Singh is an Indian educationist and retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. He joined the IPS in 1974, and held the post of Director General of Police in the state of Uttar Pradesh during the period June 2007 – September 2009. He retired from the IPS in May 2010.
Police Complaints Authority (PCA) is a body that adjudicates allegations of improper or shoddy investigations, refusal to file FIRs, custodial torture and high-handedness against the police.
